I wouldn’t mind Radiant adding actual walls to the game. It would be cool to have walls around your town with a giant door that people open up to go in and out of the village.
Maybe an actual tutorial for new players? Cutscenes (Have some hearthlings doing basic functions, and one lights up when it’s speaking. A normal in game dialogue box appears with the characters portrait and such) would be cool…
@Zilla, I found a workaround to integrate doors into my city walls. Make a slab wall 3 or 5 blocks thick withe an opening through it two blocks wider than whichever door you want. Erase a vertical slot in the centre blocks and do a freestanding wall section hidden spanning between the slots. You get a nice cave feel and a functional door. Alternatelt, I cut an enterance 3 bloks wide with the centre slot again and put a gate in for smaller enterances
I voted “other”–firstly, more doors, windows, walls, and floor designs, but specifically, more liberty with them. Looking at what a few others mentioned above, we could really use a way to plant windows and doors legitimately beyond wall segments. More ways to draw with the slab function would also be nice (no longer just horizontal row after row after row…).
And–perhaps one of the most highly requested features (just look at Steam and the Devblog feedback) regarding the game’s city-building…
A delete function. We really need ways to alter already-built structures or remove them entirely (and NOT by using command codes). I’m kind of surprised this still hasn’t been implemented up to now, considering building and designing is currently the most diverse and attractive function of the game. Plus, maybe actual threats to buildings/fences/walls by enemy attacks?
So, in short, much-needed construction systems overhaul. I can wait a little for the other things to come (and trust me, that ranged combat system is going to take a lot of time to get right).
Personally, at this point this thread is more of a discussion than a suggestion. Maybe once we get an answer from the poll, then a thread with the specific idea can be added to the discourse.
Just my 2 cents
I look at this a the community voicing an opinion on what they would like to be worked on soon. Note, the OP mentioned Alpha 14, so if TR decided to complete whatever was requested here, we wouldn’t see it for at least a few more months…
Ok Tx. @Sandwitch, don’t take it bad, I won’t participate because if everybody begins to do such kind of poll it will become a real cacophony and may end in endless trolling. Also I’m pretty sure TR do have a road map and eventually will do such poll if they fell the need to do so.
(Now, despite ranged weapons are really tempting, temperature and weather would have been my choice! )
Flowing water and mechanical devices – drawbridge, windmill, etc.
More campaign enemy and monster content
Optimization, memory leaks, bug removal
edit: to be clear, the reason I say those options is that the main thing I feel the game needs right now is depth. It either needs more creative building depth, or more enemy/combat depth. And it needs more optimization to make that depth possible.
I don’t really see this as pressuring TR to go one direction or another. They seem to take the fan’s opinions into account when deciding factors like this so this is really just jumping the gun a bit.
It’s also non-binding and I know none of the fans would be overly upset whatever they decide to do. TR seems to like having a feel for which direction the players want to go but they also know better than us what systems are best implemented at which points in the development process. Input never hurts in the form of discussion and the absolute worst case is we decide we really really really want to see a feature but TR thinks it isn’t feasible at the time
1000% this. It’s SO painful today. I bought my wife a copy recently and within about 30 minutes she popped her head up suddenly and exclaimed, “What do you mean I can’t delete buildings?!?!” She, like all of us at one point or another, didn’t rotate something properly and didn’t realize it until way too late.
Please prioritize this. Think of the children!
P.S.: please also provide a way to see through floors on multi-level structures.
