Trying to build some fancy buildings, I foolishly added items that require, for example, a Blacksmith to create, when I do not have a Blacksmith yet. Now the building is waiting indefinitely to be finished, looking ugly with scaffolding all over it, and I won’t be able to fix that until I get a Lv. 3 Blacksmith far down the road.
I would just IB it, but that also causes massive bugs, namely not removing the scaffolding. So my suggestion is to be able to pause an in-progress building and remove ghost items from the plan if they haven’t been placed yet, then resume building to allow completion aside from the original plan. Perhaps even a “Finish Now” button as long as all blocks have been placed, but it’s missing items still.
Alternatively, finishing/removing the scaffolding from building plans that have all their blocks placed down but still require items to be placed would also be feasible and reasonable, I believe.
I really like this suggestion because it can save your building from a simple user error or unforeseen circumstance. What if your level 6 blacksmith gets killed and you were working on your grand barracks and fighting arena? It’ll take a long time to replace your 'Ling and in the meantime you’re stuck with an unfinished building.
Is dying even a thing anymore? Have not lost one since the rescue feature. I used to make some cool big graveyards back in the day. Haha!
When people start modding/mixintoing in campaigns who knows what dangers the little darlings will run into. No harm in thinking ahead.
@Jim_Gibson Hearthlings can still die if you don’t rescue them. IIRC the “black heart” they have while incapacitated will drain slowly. The gravestones are still in the game so I’m sure they get used when a Hearthling isn’t rescued. That aside, though, what do you think of the suggestion?
@Averest Thanks for the one up.
Yes, I know. I have never lost one though. Seems pretty hard to do.
As far as your idea goes I agree. The way I see it since they give you an option to remove an item while it’s being built anyways that at this time does not remove it from the template build then it’s a bit broken as it stands.
LMAO NEW ISSUE THAT THIS IDEA WOULD FIX.
I just tried to re-construct a fort template that I created in the Ascendancy. As Rayya’s Children. They built the slabs fine but now I’ll be waiting multiple weeks for a Carpenter to make the WOODEN ITEMS I ORIGINALLY PLANNED IT TO HAVE. OOPS.
is not hard for them to die, just let the town run and go watch something
i lost at least 1 'ling a day thanks to that … hahahahahaha
back to topic, i like the “Finish Now” idea even with just one block placed (could end looking like ruins?)
it sounds simpler than a routine checking everyday “any heartling can craft the item?”
btw, i don’t know how you got a lv3 blacksmith item listed. werent items listed only if there is a crafter able to make them?
I loaded it in from a template, I didn’t place the objects. Templates can load objects you don’t yet have the knowledge to make just fine.
ohhh right hahahaha sorry
No problem, it happens lol. I just wish I could remove the carpentry items from my template and make it pottery-based instead, especially since I’ve already got the slabs finished.
