Summary: When loading an older save file no text is displayed on loading screen and nothing happens, on desktop a window appears with an error (see below)
Steps to reproduce:
Get latest version before 1658
Create world, build an house, few farms and assign random jobs to citizens
Update to 1658 and load game
Expected Results: The save being loaded
Actual Results: Nothing happens, and error appears on desktop
Not unexpected sadly. I noticed when I went to my save game menu that all my old save games had a reddish background, but I just deleted them, expecting them to be incompatible .
Yer, unfortunately at the moment there is no way for the team to ensure that saves will carry over to new versions of the game unbroken - so we just have to accept that updating will currently break saves.
I knew saves could be incompatibel, it’s the errormessage I got which made post a report, as it can help in debugging to make saves compatible in the future
