Mod item request: shield hanger/hook

I meant, with the default shields that are already in the game

Yeah some of my items I already keep full scale but rotated for good looking storage purposes, its just that thst doesn’t look great for a shield to stand on its rim. I think this will mean I really can’t dodge lua. Maybe I can bribe @paulthegreat if he’s not busy at some point in the future :p?

You can freely rotate the item on the input_bin rig animation.
It can be flat on the ground when in stockpile but nicely standing vertically on your hook.

and i just remembered another thing: i can ofc blatantly mis-use the scale code to shrink down a full sized shield but make it LOOK like an icon on the floor.(basicly the same i use to make my legendary weapons look more detailed than they should) the imput bin doesnt look at that code, just at the .qb…
i see an opportunity. :stuck_out_tongue: woo probably no lua needed!

EDIT: downside, my current random-shield appearance sollution would cause this to fail because they all have the same .QB for their iconic. bah. …actually, an idea: can crafting recipes from crafters use the one_of method to randomly give you an item? instead of a fixed one? so i order a shield at a crafter and i randomly get a version of it? that would solve the problem…would be a bit of work, easy work though

edit:
shrinking a full sized looking model to iconic size while making sure its normal .qb is intact enogh for HD-input_bin sollution aproved. now just to fiddle wit hthe visual and rotation part. if i cant figure that out can i bother you for some help with that @DaniAngione ?


(that model for that “iconic” is actually HD enough for decorative purposes)

You can probably make it render not iconics by overriding or monkey patching the storage_renderer with the extra option.
