Its not long now till preview release

Guys what if the graphic test gets updated until it becomes the actual pr of the game? wouldnt it be cool?

i mean we are probably playing the preview release of the preview release of the game, previewception!!

well said @mderond…

I personally don’t mind them not updating us on everything. If I have the choice between having constant multiple updates a day and when the prerelease comes out have it act like Windows when they release it for testing where it works (kind of) and you can do what you need (as long as you ignore the crashes)

-or-

Have them be fairly quite while they button down and burn the midnight oil and release a game that is missing features but is stable, playable, and looks nice. I will gladly have them be quite between now and the December release date. (But please still at least have the Desktop Tuesdays)

Thanks! I have been lurking here for a while and couldn’t take it anymore

Exactly! Personally I find it quite exciting to find out exactly what the preview release can and cannot do, once we get our hands on it.

I was actually surprised to see how much the team communicates  Compared to alot of developers on Kickstarter.
All we have to do is really simple.
Just trust them. They’re professional and accurate but still feel very … ā€œhumanā€ compared to bigger companies out there

right, I sense that as well… except for @Ponder of course… he’s more machine than man…

I’m guessing they will release the game sometime a week before X-mas or a week after X-mas. Why? because I’m sure they all want a break and sometime to spend with their family.

You’re assuming Team Radiant has no one on staff but programmers and they all code 40 hours a week. This may very well be the case, I’ve just not heard any specifics. I’d think they have a non-coding staff member or two (or trusted friend) that could play/record and post. My sense is, though, that the game just isn’t that far along yet where a game play video would do it justice. Not that they’d be against the idea.

I woulnd’t be surprised if they are coding more than 40 hours a week…

You’re right about the non-coding staff members. The fact remains (in my mind anyway) that any ā€˜official’ communication to the outside world is tricky at this point. You really don’t want to create false expectations.

I have never developed a game, but when developing complex systems it is often not until quite late in the process that everything comes together. So I can imagine there is not much to show right now, because the pieces still need to be glued together. That process also takes some time and effort. When fitting the pieces together they’re bound to run into an issue or two that need to be resolved.

Well, the Radiant family now comprises of 6 of them, all of which are directly dealing with the game - art, music, coding etc. There’s no one dedicated to the non-coding side of things, @CannonJunior was (and still is as far as I know) handling email responses and kickstarter backing rewards such as t-shirts etc. but I like to think @SteveAdamo and I manage to hold the fort down most of the time, but obviously we can’t comment on development progress, and it’d probably be unfair to do so even if we did have any knowledge.

In terms of a gameplay video, we saw a sneak preview of a unit changing to a carpenter, and some pathfinding stuff at the end of one of the livestreams a while back, but I would agree with this:

From what we’ve been told it really seems like once the core systems and frameworks are in place and they’re happy with them, the entire process becomes a lot faster in that they can then just play around with what they have adding new content.

indeed… @CannonJunior has worn a number of hats throughout this process… but you are probably both correct, in that each of the systems are functioning independently, and havent been completely stiched together yet to aid in showing off gameplay footage…
