Is there any possibility of muskets?

Oh you and your communism. But I believe that it is what I think.

But if I am getting paid for simply correcting mistakes, then… hurrah!

No… It’s spelt kmuskit with a silent k (the first one), clearly no one can spell.

Oh @Nentify. Silly. We all know musket. Not… that horrible thing.

Not you too! I trusted you, @Geoffers747. You didn’t even change it the first time either.

Oh I did.

I changed it to muskit.

Anyway that’s enough with the derailment! I’ve had my fun, I’ll correct it

As the proof reader, I believe tis spelt “muskets”.

Oh well. We’ve had our fun.

@dfre19, I unfortunately must mention one thing about the post you made, specifically:

You do realize that a mortar wasn’t just a really big cannon facing vertically? Like with a howitzer, a mortar was angled so that, while the projectile did primarily go up, it also went forward as well.

And also, it doesn’t take much to make a mortar, or the projectiles you put in it:

While yes, it does take a little more powder in a mortar than in a cannon for each shot, it wasn’t astronomical. Mortars were just fine even before the modern age for use in what they were good at: spreading mayhem behind enemy walls.
Just felt impelled to clear that up.

I didn’t mean you were LITERALLY shooting projectiles totally vertical, as that would mean you would be shooting yourself. I never said it would take a lot to build one, and we don’t know how easy obtaining gunpowder will be so it could be astronomical, relatively. Also, original mortars were not any quicker to reload than a conventional cannon and were not particularly easy to move as they were siege weapons. The original post mentioned both of those factors and so I was overlooking old models of mortars as that mentioned was closer to a modern mortar.

Mortars shouldn’t be accurate and shouldn’t be very good a killing people just knocking them down

edit #1: New idea little bombs that do small explosive damage that could decapitate or an incendiary bomb that does an area of flames for a while or you could use some cannon like machine to fire into blocks of men

edit #2: Even newer idea fireworks were used in chinese warfare for distraction but then not historically or maybe historically fire them directly at the enemies so they get blinded but they are super expensive because you need dies or something please develop

@Gridnick … I’m a little hampered on the phone… do me a favor and merge your previous three posts into one … thanks!

I was going to pick up on that… but I thought I’d let the almighty Adamo do it.

You can flag them which should let a moderator know about posts breaking the rules/guidelines.

I never thought of that… Thanks for reminding me of the feature.

yes… please do use the flag option to draw our attention whereever you think its needed…

the traffic here will pick up exponentially, and @Geoffers747 and i will be hard pressed to read every thread/post in the coming weeks…

we’re going to rely on you all to help us keep this place in good working order… in fact, perhaps at PSA is in order…

as for the triple posts, i’ve taken care of it… and notified St. Nick who should be receiving coal next month…
