I feel like Stonehearth just isn't that fun

We start off with a culture “The ascendancy” or “The whatever clay people” and furniture isn’t very customisable. We can’t add our own designs to things or really design our own armor in the base game. We just tell our minions to minecraft us some houses but no matter what the end game is the same. I came to this game because I saw potential for cusomisability in more aspects than housing (don’t get me wrong I love this game it’s kept me up for nights) but after playing through once the game gets kind of linear and quite boring because of the minimal customization.

Ah, i see what you mean

Though true, i’d argue that that’s kinda inefficient from a deveopment standpoint, at-least as it is built, for starters, if you start from nothing(no tool) you’re not gonna go anywhere, and if yoy start with a tool (say, a saw) you’ll be playing just as you’d if you were playing the kingdom that uses that tool

While i do agree that some starting customization (like being able to pick a starting tool as you wish or decide te sarting Hearthlings as a ‘custom game’ mode) i wouldn’t expect to have a feature to build fully custom furniture as a in-game feature, it’s a charm, sure, but do you ‘Really’ need a feature to make a furniture block by block? What about multiplayer? Does the server have to handle every single custom furniture for one player? I’d say that it could, but i’d rather not deal with the hastle of making that feature and stabilizing it

The game is extremely mod friendly, and i think it’s a little lazy(no offense) to ask for more features to customize your game, esspecially when it’s so easy to make a custome pice of furniture as a mod on your own, and it’ll get even more easy after the Devs release the modding tool SHED

Because it’s a feature that only appeals to a small group of players, i for one would’ve never modeled furniture or mobs and animate them if i wasn’t interested in modding, and for it to be included in the base-game would be developing a expensive feature that isn’t related to the core game that most players won’t use

As players that want to customize a game to such extent (including myself) i feel like it’s our manners to not expect for such features, so the developers can focus on features that will help a lot of people enjoy, instead of using that time to make something only a few of us will enjoy

Though, a custome start mode will be pretty interesting to have, being able to chose how many people and what tool and ect to start with, and that’ll be something a lot of people may enjoy, though it’ll need more balancing and considering to determine if it’s even possible or meaningful (again, you can only start with so many tools, you can’t start without either a saw or a clay thing)

I agree with you that the system gets old after a while, but for me, that’s where I can try and have so fun building the classic castles and towns. When it gets boring, I can start experimenting. Maybe that’s not for you, but it’s what I get out of Stonehearth.
