Hearthlings Won't Place Final Piece of Custom Building

Summary:
When I build a custom building, the building will be finished except for a single wood garden lantern, even if I have one in storage. Also there will be a ladder to the building position, just no one ever finishes the process.
Notes:
I am in alpha 20.
It is usually above a placeable like a log pile, bed, chair, etc.
I am not using any mods.

type control+c to open the console window
click on the building that is not finished
then type “ib” and hit enter

yay! :jubilant:

That’s one of the problem with furnished buildings I tend to just add windows and doors and leave the furniture to do after it’s built. If you can move the placeable without destroying the building, you might want to try that. Can you come at the final block from the other side?

I’ve had an interesting issue with this when villagers finish one job before another. Like in the default template carpenter’s house, where there is something above the bed, the villagers sometimes place the bed before removing the ladder. So you have to remove the bed to get them to go in and remove the ladder. I think this is what is getting you, as well. Villagers sometimes lose priority or another, faster villager grabs a lower priority item and places it before the higher priority item is finished or in place.

I don’t really know what the fix is on that, other than removing (undeploy) and then replacing the offending item that is in the way.

Thanks so much. Will be sure to keep that in mind.
Wonderfully responsive community.

I often find building a ladder so my hearthling can reach is usually the needed fix but sometimes when beds are involved moving the object is the only way without using the console.

Hi @Bob_the_Burrito,

Thanks for the bug report. What build of Alpha 20 are you running (a20rXXX)?

Also, would you be able to provide a save game where this problem is occuring, for the team to review?

I’m using Stonehearth 0.20.0 (release 699) x64 build.

And I am not sure how to give you a save game, but I think I have figured it out how to get around it. Just by placing ladders or undeploying and redeploying so the hearthlings can get through.

Ah. My apologies! Here are the instructions:

  1. Find the save folder for the saves you wish to upload. By default, they are located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stonehearth\saved_games (assuming a default Steam install).
  2. Zip the folder.
  3. Right click the folder (should be a long set of numbers).
  4. Left click on Send to in the menu that appears.
  5. Left click on `Compressed (Zipped) folder).
  6. (Optional) Rename the folder to something different than the default set of numbers.
  7. Upload the save.
  8. If the zip is less than 10 MB, you can upload it directly. Either use the upload button or drag and drop it into the compose window,
  9. If larger than 10 MB, upload it to a cloud storage site like Dropbox, Google Drive, File Dropper, etc. and post the sharing link here.
