Hello, something that annoys me about the game is that even if you have crates filled with delicious veggie stew, your heartling will yous pick up a silly carrot. They should be able to grab the better food item by default without me having to store raw food extremely far away so they grab the stew which is closer.
Are you playing on the stable release? We’ve actually just added this feature in our unstable branch for testing. There are a few bugs, but in the end it should work as you describe.

There’s also a happiness bonus to them eating the stew, so you should feel much better about things.
