Game crash after 30min of gameplay

Hello,

I’ve been playing stonehearth for a while now and, as usual, after a while my sessions are shortened to 30 minutes because after that the game crashes.

I’ve looked at and followed the advice of all the forums and websites I’ve found, optimizing my chests, limiting the number of entities that roam around, not doing too much construction at the same time, and so on. However, even with all this, after 30 minutes, the game crashes, even though I have 60% of the UI available. So it’s with a lot of hope that I come to you, because I love this game enormously, which is my little paradise, but which becomes far too stressful when you tell yourself that the game could crash from one minute to the next. I’m using the latest version of the game, and the ACE mode is the only one installed.

I’m on a MSI laptop with an Intel 11 and a 4050, 16 gig ram and the game is installed on an SSD, I’m running Windows 11.

Here are my logs:

ps : newcomer can’t link :frowning:

Thanks again for your help and support with this game!

Have a great day!

Best regards.

Hey there, I’m sorry to hear about your crashes :glum:

I suspect you might be running the game in 32-bit mode instead of 64, but maybe not. One way to know is indeed having your log right after a crash! I know you can’t send it here yet but perhaps if that’s still the case next time you’re here, you can upload it somewhere and post the link? Thank you! :merry:

Basically, I was playing in 64, but according to some people, the 32-bit mode helped a little, which didn’t really work out, but nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Here are my logs from my last session :

stonehearth.log (280.1 KB)

thanks again !

Yeah, indeed you’re playing on x86 (32-bit)
Regardless of what you’ve read, 32-bit is definitely worse. It severely cripples the game by limiting how much of your hardware it can benefit from. The game has, by default, a poor optimization/performance. This is unfortunately a fundamental issue on the engine level that we can’t do much about. And running on 32-bit will only make it more evident.

What you’ve probably found is a very common (although wrong) misconception that deleting the x64 folder is a fix for the game not launching. It’s true that it fixes the launching, but instead of actually fixing all it is doing is forcing the game to run on 32-bit. What you want to do instead is to properly fix your x64 client so you can use it. We have a FAQ at the ACE Discord server with lots of information on this, not to mention a whole community eager to help you with any other matters or game tips that you might need :merry: So feel free to join us by clicking here!

As for your immediate issue, I recommend following these steps:

  • I see some unusual effect/animation errors at the end of your log, so the first thing I recommend is to clear your animations cache. You can do so by deleting the animations folder in the root game folder. Don’t worry, you won’t be deleting the actual animations but the cached ones!
  • Then verify the game files (right click the game on Steam library, click Properties, go to the Installed Files tab and then click the very last option, Verify Integrity of Game Files) This will fix your installation and return any files you might’ve changed/deleted troubleshooting.
  • Afterwards, for a proper fix to your x64 version of the game, I definitely recommend this guide created by Findersword: Steam Community :: Guide :: Game Start Fix
  • It has all the solutions contained in our FAQ + some other solutions he troubleshooted/found himself. It’s a very useful guide for fixing your game properly!

Let us know how it goes! :jubilant:
