I don’t recall Radiant saying this would be a “thing”, but its certainly possible… here’s a really old thread where it was briefly discussed:
I believe @Tom mentioned it in the latest live stream. But it was definitely not something to expect until 2015, likely mid to late 2015. I think he said how it would come post Dwarves.
Mind you it shouldn’t be too difficult for someone to mod them in.

Those voxels she sleeps on were placed after she fell asleep, so I don’t think it would be a problem, at least for now. I think the settlers can still overlap with other settlers.
And yes, I agree they should prioritize ground over other walkable surfaces…

Completely on a side note: That is my daughter there - always dreaming of food. She has actually sleepwalked to the fridge and eaten in her sleep. Girls.
