Crashing on Load

Summary:

I’ve seen a few posts like this but no resolution:
Game crashes about half way into the blue bar for loading.
If it helps I had (what I thought was) max villages of 20 and had just finished a lot of mining with no where to put the items so I had a lot on the floor.

None of my saves now load

Hey there @brackex, welcome to the Discourse! Sorry to hear that you are having issues loading saves.

Couple of questions for you, let’s see if we can get you up and running:

  1. Are you able to start a new game successfully?
  2. If so, can you save and load that game?
  3. What build of the game were the saves originally created in?
  4. Is there a crash.dmp in your install directory? If so, please upload it.

I can make a new game and save / load it. After doing that I tried loading my previous game and it still crashes
The saves were made in this build, ascendancy, temperate, normal. If thats what you mean by which type
I’m a new user so I can’t upload files. When will that change?

It just did. I manually bumped your TL. For spam prevention purposes new users are restricted from a lot of things (like uploading) until they have read 30 posts and spent at least 10 minutes reading.

If you could upload your crash.dmp, as well as the saves that are crashing the game, that would be appreciated. I’ll ping @Albert to see if he can take a look.

To upload a save, locate the folder in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stonehearth\saved_games (assuming a default Steam install), zip the individual save’s folder (not the entire saved_games folder), and upload it. If the *.zip is less than 10 MB, feel free to upload it directly to the Discourse. If larger, please upload it to a cloud storage site like Dropbox, Google Drive, File Dropper, etc. and post the sharing link here.

@brackex - Welcome to the forum! Sorry that your game crashed. The crash.dmp file was successfully reported to the server so you don’t need to do anything else. Someone here will take a look at it and see if we can find the problem. Thanks for reporting!

Thanks for looking in to this guys.

Every couple of patches I give the game a go and I’m really looking forward to seeing whats its like when you decide its finished.

Not sure if this is relevant but I took a steam screenshot of the game that wouldn’t load.

I did another one on a different save today and the next time I loaded it crashed right after.
I managed to go back to a previous save it it was ok

I meant that the only thing I can think of that I did different was using f12 to get a screenshot in steam.
Wondering if that could cause a problem.

Now this is a bit different but the zip file compression was just over 10mb.
7zip which is free to download has a better compression so I did that and it went to 6.5mb.
Unfortunately .7z files aren’t on your approved list so I had to zip the 7z file!

Thank you for the save! It is showing me all sorts of bugs to fix. Very helpful!
