This game is amazing, don't get me wrong with that, however there is just one complication. I bought this game about 2 months ago and have been playing it religiously, but I just recently went on a 5 hour road trip and found out that something was lacking. The controls were just not optimized enough for comfortable use on a trackpad. So basically if you want to play without a mouse you're screwed when it comes to ease of controls.
This problem got me thinking. I starting thinking about how the controls could be made easier for laptop gamers to use. My first idea was to create a mod that could add some trackpad functions such as two fingered ease of access. I did some research on this and then came to the conclusion that a mod wouldn't be the way to go, it would have to be built into the actual vanilla game. Then one day a friend asked me to play a quick match of Civilization V (I know, they're never fast) and I saw a magical button that said Touch Screen Controls. That was the Eureka moment, which was when I realized that I needed something to eat, just kidding. I realized that touch screen controls were what Stonehearth needed.
With the new popularity of touchscreen laptops and hopefully touchscreen computer monitors in the near future I concluded that the Stonehearth development team ought to hear about this. How would it work? Simple, it would just be a toggle able feature from within the in game settings. Will it be worthwhile? Absolutely! By adding support for touchscreens not only will the ease of access for current players be improved, the potential customer pool will also be increased.
I do not expect to see this feature be implemented until the official release. However, it would be a nice feature to have, no doubt about that.

Just so everyone can read what the OP said.

In what way are the current controls particularly annoying and what would need to be done to make them work better for touchscreen?
