Fair enough I’ll just make a list of translations somewhere
I could do a Finnish translation for you guys. I’m both a native speaker of Finnish and English, so should proceed with fair speed. I’ve done game translation before for a few companies, so I’m more than happy to help out! @voxel_pirate @SteveAdamo
Lucky us, and I thought we will have to stick with @Geoffers747 doing the Finnish translations . Welcome on board!
No idea there were more awkward Finns lying around! It’s also a terrible language to translate into/from, so all the cumulative help that can be gotten, should be used.
Just out of curiosity, at what point are scripts being sent around for translation? If there’s no definite answer yet, that’s fine.
I was just joking… I don’t think Geoffers speaks Finnish, but this guy suprises me all the time, so who knows .
Unfortunately we do not know yet how translation will work. I guess that we will have to wait a bit longer for that and I am not expecting that this is already a hot topic during the first days of the Alpha 1.
Haha, damn the difficulty to expressing any meaningful sarcasm online! Well, I was duped.
I can offer a suggestion that gives a lot of flexibility to translations: doing an excel sheet (in Google docs for example) of all the items, legends and such the game moving forward. It’s an easy enough list to populate with translations, various versions that people want to push for. Previously that’s exactly what companies that I have worked for have done. Sent out a simple enough excel sheet, that I can then fiddle with and send out for easy implementation. I’m not thinking that Alpha will be the best time to start throwing out a list, but with translations, it’s never too early to send out at least something! Localization can immensely help with initial releases. For the sake of translators, it can also function as a way to feel as a part of something, which can help motivate players engaging with the pre-release version.
Finnish? no… but his Pig Latin has come along nicely…
I would like to join to Polish Team.
[PL] SilentNeko - miło mi powitać. Pytanie jedno - masz może konto na forum polskiej społeczności?
[EN] SilentNeko - nice to meet you. A question - do you have an account on the polish community forum?
And in you are… welcome and thanks for raising your finger @SilentNeko.
HI there, i would like to translate the game into Russian.
welcome aboard @Laipro!
im actually surprised we dont have any existing Russian volunteers… oh well, im sure @voxel_pirate will be along shortly and update his list… new flag time!
I was suprised too, didnt thouht i would be the first russian volunteer
Thanks for volunteering… actually there seems to be a rather large Russian fanbase (as there is a fan-page and people on Steam are asking for a translation), but nobody raised a finger yet .
My and polisch Flag looks ugly because of the white background!
The best I can do is to put the flags into a quote, that’s what I have done now. Unfortunately the img-tag does not accept the border-parameter and no css-styles.
I hope you like “your” flag now, otherwise you need to contact your government .
i hope you dont mind, but i took the liberty of “tweaking” the image in Paint.net, adding a dark gray border… makes it stand out a bit more, but feel free to swap it back with your original…
edit: on second thought, that might get a bit tedious, having to edit all the flag images…
Yeah, that was also my initial thought and the “work” made me skip this idea . With the quote-style this is hopefully fine now for all.
@voxel_pirate You can add me for German
And here you go… quite some Germans around and all willing to contribute to a translation .
