Building Housing glitches since update (walls, windows)

Building Housing glitches since update (walls, windows) (I apologize if this has been reported already)

After trying to build a two story house I got a few bugs that I thought I would quickly let you guys know about. So the first is the wall of the bottom story seems to be a lot taller about 6 blocks, and meshes into the second story, so if you put a window on the second story the bottom floor wall overlaps the window/doors placed there. it also makes the walls sort of flash? a little when moving the camera showing there are the two meshes overlapping.

Also I had the issue where I placed some windows and clicked undo to remove them, they removed the windows but then left the hole in the wall there they were located. Tried placing windows there again to see if that would fix it but it wouldn’t let me it just left a hole in the mesh. I tried recreating the hole but was unable to, but from the save file you are able to see that the bottom wall is cutting through the window on the second story in build mode.

If I’m not wrong, windows are “attached” to houses unlike doors. That means if you remove a window after your house is built, they won’t put any cube of wall instead of and trying to replace a window will be a failure. However, you can remove your door and replace it after the end of the construction. Again I may be wrong.

the window issue is common, and has been around since build mode was first introduced. There was a way to get the hole to go away, but I don’t remember it off the top of my head. instead of deleting the window, try hitting “undo”.

also, I’m surprised you managed to build a 2-story building at all. build mode is and has been horrifically buggy, oftentimes breaking saves altogether. aside from roads, I’ve elected to not touching build mode whatsoever until build mode is finished. as such, I don’t really know if they’ve done anything in this last patch about build mode other than when you set down presets it swaps over to build mode to let you make some changes, like changing the beds and doors to better beds and double doors, but since I don’t like my saves being corrupted I just hit continue anyway. the only furniture I actually care about at this point is the bed, and that can be torn up and turned into a better bed to be sat back down at a later date anyway.

the “a lot taller” bit actually sounds to me like you set a wall to be built twice. walls are typically 6 blocks tall, after all. so it’s not the first floor wall that’s tall, it’s that your hearthlings broke the laws of physics and built 2 walls in the same exact spot. a common sight in hearthstone, but it only takes 1-2 pieces of wood and looks ugly, and is easy to avoid (don’t place walls on top of walls, or just use the auto-wall tool), so as far as bugs go, it’s fairly minor. if you used the auto-wall tool and it still happened, then that might be more of an issue. however, most breaks in building are caused by players using manual placement of stuff, and the auto-wall tool is generally decent at not breaking everything unless you made the floor weird (in which case it’s still your fault because you made the floor weird).

also, as far as being reported anyway, if you look down the list for the past 20-30 or so topics and don’t see any reports that look like what you’re reporting, start making a topic. if, when making the topic, you don’t see any of the suggested topics in blue saying what you’re saying, then go ahead and post. particularly old threads can be ignored as the game has changed a lot since then, and if old errors are popping up again after a long time, it’s important to know that they’re popping up again. if you look and don’t see anything, there’s no need to apologize if you did end up making a repost.

Yea when building i never use the delete button, this was clicking the undo button and the blocks were still missing in its place,

As for the walls this was using the auto wall tool. you know when you hover over a wall it shows the outlines highlighted? if you did that for the side wall on the bottom floor you can see the height spreads up halfway into the second floor, it should show up in the attachment save town.

Before the recent patch I never had an issue with two stories, as long as the door is placed on the outside wall and you dont make a hole in the floor for a cusom staircase it always worked, you just place a ladder going up to the door,

Yea as i wrote above it was clicking undo, i dont use the “destroy” when building XD
