Agree with @naturalnuke the yellow could be a bit “dustier” a bit darker perhaps?
Also a bright neon pink darkish blue will always stand out!

and they all look great! as was suggested in another thread, might we see how these look when zoomed out perhaps?
Warning on the green, as @Tom says, a LOT in Stonehearth is green so green bandanas might not stand out so well.
Also, whilst colour variation between different bands of bandits (that phrase sounds silly but meh) very much appeals, I do hope this doesn’t suggest they’re going to have variation of colours amongst individual bands of them as they should all be uniform.
Other than that, my blind compliments to you, I’m excited
Here you go.
I see what you mean. Maybe. I was thinking about changing it from ‘clans’ to a single monstrous clan. But color coded outposts and soldiers, quite possibly. Most of this is just me trying to see what other colors ‘fit’ with the style.
Also, working on the female. Here’s a rough draft of her so far:
As you can see, she’s a bit rough. I copied most of the base body from the pictures shown of normal Stonehearth females. To be honest, she feels more like a child than a female, but I’m working on her. It was also hard to get hair to look ‘right’ coming out from underneath her helmet, especially with the bandana in the way. So, for now, she’s got a buzz cut. The chest plate is also a bit ‘eh.’ I’ll probably finish her once I’m back from vacation.
I still love the red. Maybe if you’re thinking variation you should think more of the style. Like instead of a bandanna around the neck perhaps one on the head replacing the hair. Maybe instead of a small armor plate some leather and buckles or a longer scarf for some. Enough to make it vary but still distinguish it from the heavier bandits or more specialized ones. You could always go with scars, piercings, tats, skin, and hair variation as is done with the standard settlers.
If you’re up for a palette swap though perhaps think of moving the bandits to another biome that would camouflage them better. Like red and sand says desert to me, but then green and pastels could be a forest bandit clan. Maybe blue and black would be swamp (since green is taken) and yellow could be…well desert but I think red looks better for desert @_@. just chucking ideas out there.
You have plenty of room for creative license once you finish the line. It’s just a matter of what you’re looking for. Do you want the bandits to be similar to the 3 factions in Stonehearth? Do you want them to be all one bandit camp as you said? If so what is the back story keeping them together? I think the best thing about this whole thread is the fact that your style is so refined yet still so free to move where it chooses.
Ehrm… okay, this is a weird building. I made it a while ago, and just refound it. It’s kind of a house built inside the perimeter of a ruined building. Doesn’t fit the bandits that amazingly, makes me think more of goblins and such, but here you go, the last thing I’ll show off before I go on vacation.
Seeya in ten days!
I see what you mean, but it looks like it could be refined to be a bandit soothsayer’s home or something. There’s plenty of potential.
have a safe trip, and dream pleasant dreams of thieves and bandits!
Tip that you may know already: plain surfaces are bad they need variation, although i can already see it coming along, oh but, I’m sure you’ll fix it.
have a good trip you deserve it
Fpaaahhh… I’m back. That was one hell of a long vacation. My face is like crispy bacon thanks to that big ball of fire that the Aztecs worshiped. Anyways, I’ll have some content tomorrow maybe, if I’m not busy writing something for the Writer’s Competition.
Oh, one more thing, and it is kind of important. I had a thought during that eighteen hour car ride… Radiant probably already have plans for bandits of some sorts… so I will be changing up their theme a bit. Somewhat related to that short story I had written up above (the thing that made it out as if I were working on something bigger than I was). I’ll also probably ask around for some people to export a few of my models so I can slip into the animation gloves for the first time.
Anyways, au revoir et bonne nuit.
welcome back here @RoseyNineOneOne
great to have you back, cant wait for some more models and even animations, sound awesome!
holy moly i just scrolled down through this entire thread and i just gotta say the models kept getting more awesome as I did so
@RoseyNineOneOne you are amazing I am definitely going to be installing your mod when the game comes out
Well, here’s a little guy that I just mocked up in Qubicle.
Also, if anyone would be willing to export some models for me, would you mind PMing me?
i like this guy! a bandit that got the better of a run-in with a Viking?
Well, I revisited my cart. And I didn’t like it. So, I took the base of the catapult and built onto that, and out pops a much more maraudery-like cart, to fit with them better.
I love it. Just be a bit weary of your symbols as one on the top looks like a half made swastika (Yes I know it’s not one I’m just asking you to be a bit careful). Love the tattered look. Will one of the Trolls be pulling or pushing the cart?
great work i think it realy fits the style, alot better then the first one.As for the little guy above i dnt think he fits as well but i still love him great work.Sorry for the compliments I know you love hard critism:)
I ended up making one about four times. But I’m being careful.
Probably, that or a Stipan. Though I do know the Stipans don’t look great right now, but I’m still improving myself.
