Are the buildings anything more than decorative?

I was wondering if there were any benefits to buildings and placing the workstations inside, or sleeping inside, as opposed to just placing the furniture and all outside?

I think right now there is no benefit/penalty, but in the future when they implement seasons there might be debuffs if settlers sleep outside in the cold, etc.

There is a debuff for sleeping on the ground, but nothing else that I’ve noticed as to sleeping in a better bed or having a roof etc.
