Any advice from modders on how to present their mods in videos?

My plan is to showcase the mods to the world in videos. Now, in Minecraft and similar very moddable games, people simply show the modded game and explain where the mod came from and who created it and then play the game.

I was wondering do you guys want the same method or something else? I assume every modder wants to show and explain his mod in the best possible way so I’m asking from a modder’s perspective, what is the best way to do it?

I’m just going to throw in a few names for you of people who’ve been busy modding recently so they can answer your questions…@Miturion @TobiasSabathius @Avairian @Moe2212 @Minion :stuck_out_tongue:

For me it is fine whatever you plan to do. I dont mind whatever way you want to do it.

I second that. Mod showcases are works of art in their own. Putting your own twist onto how you do your mod showcases is encouraged in my opinion, so restricting it kinda defeats the purpose. So all in all, no there is no specific way I could possible think of that my mod would have to be showcased.

The Minecraft method is a good one in my book.

As long as you credit the modder you should be fine, I guess. (That’s how we do it for the Minecraft/Game Dev Tycoon mods. :P)

Thanks guys for the replies! Make sure to drop me a message when some of you build a functioning mod, don’t wanna miss the first few!

The Japan thing mod is ready, that’s the only one I know. :stuck_out_tongue:

Nihonjin is the second available mod, the first is @Miturion’s. :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks for letting me know.

Both of the mods break my game, I don’t understand what am I doing wrong?

Did you follow the instructions? (I have no idea if it works for me as I haven’t tried them out yet. ;))

I did exactly as it says in the instructions at least 7 times so far. Both mods make the game impossible to launch. Just a half second reaction and then stonehearth.exe shuts down.

That’s strange… remember the game is still Alpha 1 though… so it doesn’t have very stable mod support. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yea but its simply a replacement of files, no real changes to the core game so I don’t understand why wouldn’t it want to work

Sorry, I can’t help you on this one. Let’s tag some people that might be able to help you here: @SteveAdamo @Geoffers747 @Avairian @Miturion!

Hmm I have no idea - whose mods are you trying? @Miturion’s and @Avairian’s?

The only difference I can imagine there being is potentially a difference in versions? For example if the guys have used the .smod from r14 or an earlier version and you are using a different version to this?

I don’t even know if that would cause compatibility issues or not.

Will try myself when I get home unless the question is answered! Sorry.

I tried both. I also tried both versions of the game and both versions of the smod file. The force is strong against me on this one

For me, vanilla r14 doesn’t actually work, so perhaps its nothing to do with the mods, and is just the game not working?

I play over Steam and both r10 and r14 work for me if I verify game files. As soon as I add either one of the mods, the game refuses to run on either version.

For me the vanilla game just works perfect, no crashes & lagg (bugs of course :P). It’s a problem on your part. Do you have Windows XP as Stonehearth doesn’t support Windows XP as of yet.
