I just downloaded the latest unstable patch and created a new town to try out the new features. Whenever I try to promote a worker to a carpenter, however, the saw disappears and the worker does not get promoted. He does do the promotion animation, though.
Thess right there is the culprit. Her insatiable appetite for tools has doomed her town.
