Why lua and not CLR?

Have you ever thought about using common language runtime an c# for modding ?

I did some rimworld-modding recently and it was really amazing how safe, easy to learn (thanks to github) and intuitive you can mod literally every aspect of the game. And more than 2000 actual mods show that there are plenty of skilled people out there.

Thinking of modding stoneheart I got cramps in my guts when I remembered lua scripting back in the WoW days…

I’m curious about the reasoning, as well. However, at this point, the game cannot be converted to use a different language. All of the game is written in Lua, minus the engine and a couple of performance critical components.
