Video Games That Have Disappointed You

SimCity wasn’t too bad for me, it wasn’t all that buggy, and I got the game after the server fiasco. The Cities of Tomorrow DLC had a bit of stuff in it, but the other DLCs aren’t really worth it.

(But honestly, I’m just saving up for Tropico 5)

I was one of those people who didn’t get affected when the server fiasco happened… But after maybe a week it just seemed to get repetitive…

I got somehow disapointed by FEZ. I really like the full-color, pixel/voxel looking games (that’s why I’m so excited about Stonehearth). But FEZ ogot so much hype, Fish took such a long time to release it that I really expected something more than what it actually is. I played for a lot of hours the first day it came out on Steam, but got bored easily and haven’t played again since then. I would say it’s a monotonous game.

To make it even better, my battlenet account had been hacked in the 2 years I never played a Blizzard game. So I played D3 for a few days, then went to work. Got back later and ALL my D3 items had been sold and I had zero gold left.

I go to the Blizzard forums to post… but then I realize my entire account was banned for illegal in game activity. That’s right, you can activate a brand new $100 Collectors Edition Diablo 3 on a banned account, and never once be warned that the account is banned prior to inputting your key.

Did not finish D3, character left for dead somewhere in the sewer levels. Blizzard left for dead in sewers too.

@Smokestacks I agree when DLC is treated like mini expansions but when DLC is released on launch day it is nothing but greed that it wasn’t put in the game. Also pay to win DLC, if I HAVE to buy the DLC to play the game online and win, then again you are just exploiting a captive audience, FYI I feel that way about Disney theme parks as well. Some great DLC I have seen is CiV, some bad DLC that I have seen is Company of heroes 2, where the DLC commanders are more powerful then the stock game.

I think it’s safe to say that I kind of agree. The game just felt unfinished and kind of boring. There was not much gameplay whatsoever. Not to mention that Fish was a childish mess who didn’t really have the will to work on the game and have any respect for anyone.

You do realize it takes months to mass produce and distribute a game once it is complete, right? Does the team sit there and twiddle their thumbs while this happens? Nah they create patches and DLC for the game or start on another game. Also once the game is finalized it is much easier to add more content to it. Just look at how much quicker Radiant is making progress now that the engine is up and running. Make sense?

I don’t quite understand the logic of releasing the DLC the day of the game release. However the whole point of “Oh it should have been in the game already!” is kinda of pointless in my honest opinion.

Hmm i’ve thought long about this and I really havn’t found the best answer for this, but I do know 1 system game I was excited for and then was like eh that’s it?
Injustice Gods among us, I was really excited about the game (partly because netherrealm studios, made it and im a mega MK fan) and also because I am a super hero fan. Idk if I got myself ahh giddy, or maybe im the only weirdo that thought the game was ok, but I beat it in like 2 hours, “died” twice and felt empty inside. I guess I was spoiled by MK’s gore or the fact that Shao Kahn was such a pain to beat, but I felt like I flew through Injustice to quick, to quick for me anyways :frowning:

I find it very hard to believe that EA and Ubisoft were “working hard” for Day 1 DLC. In some cases you may be correct, but I believe the vast majority of Day 1 DLC is cut content to force you to pay more. The only new coding that should go into a game on Day 1 is a patch. If the game doesn’t run like butter on Day 1 you damned well best not release DLC for it on the same day.

Look at some of the pre-release bonuses that were on Watch_Dogs. Like 3-4 new missions and some outfits. Art assets I can understand being made extra before release, but if you have your game Nvidia sponsored and you can’t get it to run 60FPS on 2 Titans you have bigger things to worry about than a couple missions. Pre-release digital deluxe was an extra $10 bucks, that’s DLC without the name.

Watch_Dogs wasn’t my most disappointing game, but BF4 was pretty high up there. Tons of bugs, poop for multiplayer coding, hit registry was off, demolitions were nowhere near as frequent/unsequenced as they used to be, that game was a mess.

There is only one game that has really disappointed me, Zombie Playground. I remember two years ago funding this game thinking " man this is going to be the most coolest game of all time." I was wrong, so wrong. The only bad part about it was pledging the $50.00 that I did. At the time the backer reward sounded really cool, a lot of in game content and an art book. For the first year of the game I tried to stay up as close as I could seeing how it was one of the first games I have ever funded.

Time went by and barley any updates, you know the usual “Wow this week is packed with bugs”. Other than that nothing out of the ordinary. The alpha that I was placed in was terribly buggy, I mean terrible! I was so furious I contacted the developer of the company through the letter I had received. I was soon wrote back and it was just a big fat “we’re sorry”. All I remember was taking a sigh and continuing on with my life. Two years later and I still have that empty $50.00 bill slot with nothing to show, not even the game. Man I hope they get that game running, and when they do I’m going to play the shit out of it!
