indeed… i was initially going to suggest/request that folks only cast X number of votes… but i couldn’t really come up with a good number for X…
But they aren’t going to stop working on a green card in favor of a blue one. A more interesting matchup is ranged combat and world features, because those are both things that are going to be worked on.
yeah they won’t stop working on one, they’ll just not focus on it and focus on multi story buildings for alpha 10 as alpha 9 might come out next week (probably will)
Well if people vote for what they like we should still see a quite overwhelming amount of votes on the “must have” features.
Well not overly so - everything needs to eventually get done right, but just because say “mac/linux port” could get a ton of votes, they’ve been very vocal in saying that this will be done once point X has been reached.
Seeking community feedback will just enable the team to twiddle potential lists and focus, but ultimately they don’t need to shift their attention to things if it negatively impacts the process as a whole.
I would agree that certain bugs are surely a priority - but then there’s always the situation where “well weve implemented X feature, which has broken Y feature” so is it worthwhile spending time fixing bugs now, which potentially with things being changed moved around and added could either be fixed/ removed anyway (hypothetically speaking) or is it better to get some features and functionality in and then look at bug fixing.
Of course the two aren’t mutually exclusive, I mean the dev progress so far has been a combination of fixes and features, no reason for that to stop now. But I would hazard that the ‘idle worker’ bug is slightly more complicated than twiddling a few knobs seeing as it’s been present pretty much since A1.
Multistory buildings has 100 votes, combat campaigns 94 and water has 74, i just wanted to mention it as multi-story buildings got 100
Vote top 5, Wait for them to be worked on, Then vote for another when 1 of the items is taken off the table (seems pretty reasonable).
agreed! and while the team is lean (6 developers), only so many folks can focus on one particular bug at a time (even those as significant as path-finding, etc.)… i imagine this leaves plenty of bandwidth for other team members to make strides into new feature development…
I hope so, as even at this early stage it’s shaping up to be an excellent game.
I too play until something significant breaks, then I just start a new game
Yeah, that is why I generally just live with minor bugs, like birdbaths. However, this one is something of a gamekiller for me, so it is kind of my personal goal to keep as much attention on it til it gets fixed as possible. It is something that keeps people from experiencing the ‘late game’ as it were, so I feel it is a bit bigger of an issue than others.
related sidebar: i am really excited to see each of those first three items on the Gameplay column implemented…
they all obviously provide for more player interaction/immersion, but each in their own unique way… cant wait!
It seems unlikely that they would take someone’s mod and incorporate it into the game as an official feature. Obviously they’re very “mod friendly”, but they also want to make their own game themselves, I suspect.
I haven’r checked out the chef mod at all, is there any actual benefit added to cooking food? I assume the official chef class will make food that adds more to morale than raw vegetables and jerky, but I don’t know what (if any) other benefit there will be - seems like more of a “fun” class rather than one that is necessary…?
What would be the point of that? That’s a zero sum and you may as well not have voted for anything. It’s literally meaningless unless you change relative positions (or possible relative positions) of cards by by only voting for some of them.
Would it be better to give someone a number of votes equal to number of categories? That way they could vote on one item in each category, or they could vote multiple times on one item, to reflect their level of desire. As the poster above me pointed out, an unlimited number of votes seems rather non-productive
The point was that there is no rstriction on the amount of votes but you can only vote once on each card. As @Argen understood as the only one
The post have been edited t make it more clear.
Damn, hard to choose what to vote for. EVERYthing in the gameplay column is a must…
at the moment new grops, new receipts and the receipts statisfy more than the normal food - so yes it improves but you are right at the moment its more a funclass - later in the game when the hungersystem is implented its important to statisfy your soldier so that they stay longer at there place ^^ at the moment is a timetrigger for food
I don’t really understand the combat campaigns how far does radiant mean by this
Currently I think its just the goblin one, but it would be great if they continued to add one or two more combat events per alpha, to flesh out the gamemaster.
Yeah right now by “combat campaign” they basically mean fighting/paying tribute to the goblin chieftain. Thats all for now I think
