Pretty good picture =D And I think yes the elevated floor give a special look at the game And I love it =P And if there is a flood the citizens have better chances to stay dry^^
I also noticed.
Why is that in the Pre-Alpha, it looks more finished than the Alpha we currently have?
are you referring to the image @Miturion posted? if so, that’s not an in-game image…
No the one I posted, which was from the first Stonehearth Video; the one where Stonehearth was introduced to the world. In the Picture/Video, there were Buildings with multiple Stories and Roofs, Animals, and much more, and that was the Pre-Alpha. In the Alpha, we didn’t get Buildings with Roofs and Animals until after a few months later, and we still haven’t even got to the multiple Story Buildings, yet.
So, I’m wondering, why is that the Pre-Alpha seems in a much more finished state? It sure doesn’t look finished, but compared to the version of the Alpha we have currently, it looks more advanced.
I’m not complaining, I just want to know.
I cant be sure, but its likely because the engine (at that time) could perform single tasks more effectively than it can now with everything else baked in, and working simultaneously…
think of the early work as more proof-of-concept… they now have the fully functional engine, with all the interrelated parts working in tandem… this leads to all sorts of issues when you try and implement something that worked before, when there wasn’t as much “going on” as there is now…
and please take those comments with a big grain of salt, as they are obviously oversimplified…
Like @SteveAdamo has said, there’s a hell of a difference between making something for a screenshot/ proof of concept video and making something that actually works!
I think you are thinking about this video.
No I was talking about this video.
That’s our prototype: something we whipped up in the fastest way possible to validate that the idea actually works. We cut a lot of corners that prevent that prototype from being suitable for a shipping game.
