Roads built one layer above a preset slice are displaying when in a slice view.
Roads built more than one layer above, do not display when in a slice view.
When I slice, I’d like to not see anything above the selected layer, including roads.
Example below shows roads being displayed at 50m when the slice layer is at 49m.
Roads, even those connected to roads >50m are not visible, but roads at 50m are.
The Roads at 50m are blocking my view of the rooms below [slice].
HOW AM I EXPECTED TO CARVE OUT THE MOST AMAZING GREAT HALL UNDER THE MOUNTAIN IF ROADS ARE BLOCKING MY VIEW. DURIN DIDN’T HAVE TO WORK UNDER THESE CONDITIONS.
Some context (and thanks for posting this under suggestions ) :
You can’t mine the 1 block tall layer that is right below the floor / road (unless you do some work arounds, like designating first the mining zone, then designing and building the floor / road, and then actually mining the zone). This has always been the case.
So my guess is that they’re visible to show you where you can’t mine. If they weren’t visible, you might be confused as to why the cursor becomes the red X when trying to draw a mining zone there.
But it definitely blocks the view if you already have caves in the level below .
You mean the terrain x-ray mode (that only shows zones that have been mined) ?
I think that might be already fixed in our internal branch
no he means the “melt away closest walls but keep rear walls” mode, that allows you to look into houses. the first of the view togles, where the second one is only show the lowest blocks of walls.

to be fair, wouldnt it then make more sense to make you able to mine RIGHT under other blocks AND not dispaly the road?
