Qubicle Competition Discussion Thread. Cycle 1, Week 1 - The Wombat!

That little guy is looking good! I believe it’s a combination of viewing threads and posting/replying that gets you from a “new user” to the next level up for posting pictures and stuff.

Thanks for the response, I will be sure to be active so that I can post in a correctly formatted way in the actual thread.

i think (in order to keep a level playing field) we should limit it to just models straight out of qubicle… but i do love your post processing effects!

welcome aboard @Jackow! as @GrimMethod mentioned, once you have viewed X threads and or made X number of comments, you are allowed to PM members, post images, etc. and nice work on your first model! :+1:

Hey guys, sorry for my absence, I went away on Saturday and have now just returned!

I also have some great news. A big thank you to @Tim who is kindly offering every monthly winner of the Qubicle competition a free download of the Qubicle ‘home’ edition.

This might alter our prizing structure slightly, I’ll discuss it more with @SteveAdamo, but regardless of what happens, the ‘home’ edition of Qubicle will be a prize for winning the monthly competition.

Just wanted to let you all know! I’m loving all the models you guys have submitted so far, and right now I’m gonna go again, but hopefully will be back on later!

seconded… thanks @Tim! very generous of you… :+1:

as for the existing items we have in mind, no reason why they cant either be combined, or doled out for alternate competitions… this really helps sweeten the pot though!!

Hey team, (@SteveAdamo and @Geoffers747)
I’m wondering if we need a little “get out the vote” campaign. There are some great models in there with very little voting. Eight votes for the lead model seems like not very many people have participated in voting and the Pamela Anderson effect is in full swing.

I’m wondering if a format change is not due. FIRST get all the models, SECOND post them all at the same time. THIRD open the thread for voting so all models get an equal chance at the vote. Right now we have a Submit thread and a Conversation thread, maybe we need a Voting thread as well???

This was something I was planning to do tomorrow, with it being midweek and all that!

I toyed around with the idea of something like this, but then I felt it just makes things overly complicated? Unless of course we split the week into something like 5 days to make your model, then submissions and voting open on the 6th day, then winner announced on the 7th.

I mean this whole thing is open to change and probably will at some point change, it all has to make sense for everyone involved in it, so yer, we’ll look into this and see how to address it

Seeing as we’re measuring votes by the amount of ‘likes’ a post receives, I think combining the model suibmission and voting into one makes sense at the moment, rather than separating them out.

Anyway, I’m off to bed and will more than likely revisit this tomorrow to hopefully provide more discussion

wait till you see what he’s rolling out, to get people motivated to vote… shudders

Steve, You sir, disgust me.

apologies! it’s been corrected… and i’ll be ashamed enough for both @Geoffers747 and myself…

I can only apologise! I’ll try to use more gender neutral terms in the future to avoid this sort of thing happening!

Thank you @SteveAdamo for correcting it, and I’ll go wallow in my pit of shame :fearful:

Sorry @Relyss!!!

Guys, you have about 5 hours to get your models in. Voting will close tomorrow!

that raises a good question… we need to determine when the specific times are (timezone, etc.)… because for me, sunday still has quite a bit of time!

i dont mind either way, but to be “official” i suppose we have to make that distinction…

I was thinking of going by BST/GMT, firstly because its superior, secondly because i inhabit it, and thirdly because its the central timezone, so we just need to make people aware of what that translates to for their zone.

Model submission and voting will close ‘early’ for you guys, but theyll also open early, everyone’ll get the same amount of time!

And yes, in my haste and my using of a mobile device i have misinterpreted and replied to your original comment, but I’ve come too far to turn back.

If it were the central time zone… it would be Central Standard Time - which it is not. :speak_no_evil:

Dethrone King @Geoffers747! Long Live @SteveAdamo!

What is this blasphemy?!

I meant central in that everything is relative to GMT!! You have this day of independence and you lose your minds!
