No expedition roster and starting flag doesn't start game

The title basically says it all. When I start a new game, there is no expedition roster, but I can still choose my tools and food and choose my starting location. Once the game loads I can place unlimited flags but the game never starts and the villagers and fire pit never appear.

  1. What version of the game are you playing? (It should appear in the lower left corner of the screen on the main menu).
  2. Can you please copy your stonehearth.log and user_settings.json files from your install directory here? They would be located (by default) in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stonehearth.

Alrighty then, not really sure on this one. You have CPP AI and Subspace pathfinding enabled, so it is not related to that, but your log seems very short, especially if you started a new game. Let me page some devs to see if they can give you a hand. @sdee, @yshan, @Albert, ever heard of this before?

It sounds like the client and server processes are having trouble communicating with each other. What security / privacy / firewall / anti-malware software do you have running? Try disabling them and see if it changes the behavior.

Also, is there a crash.dmp file in the folder where the stonehearth.log file is located?

There doesn’t seem to be a crash.dmp file in my fI disabled my firewall (ESET NOD32 antivirus 8) and no change.

Hey there @huntergcrain, have you ever been able to launch the game successfully before? Have you by chance installed any mods or attempted to modify any game files? The quoted lines below seem to indicate that something was modified incorrectly, and there are also Script errors being thrown by the game. I would suggest deleting your game directory via Windows explorer (Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common and delete the entire Stonehearth folder. If you have any saved games or building templates you want to keep, be sure to copy them from C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stonehearth\saved_games and C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stonehearth\saved_objects\stonehearth\building_templates before you delete the folder. Let us know if this helps.

Hey, thanks so much! Over the summer i tried to install a few mods and they didn’t work, after that i didn’t play for a while and when i got back into Stonehearth, i just never put 2 and 2 together! Deleted my mods and it works fine now.

Glad to hear that you are up and running again! Mods are definitely tough with the speed at which the game is updated. Really need to stay on top of updating the mods to keep your game running. Have fun :smile:!
