Now that I’m looking at the template thumbnail, the reason might just be slabs accidentally drawn into the ground (below the outside stairs), but maybe there’s more to it so here you go.
Edit: There’s a strange strip of reddish soil left after destroying the template. Clicking on it brings up a window with no text. Clicking again closes the building tool.
