Light sources for mining/fuel for lightsources

Hey there @Ett_tingest and @aSensnmann, welcome to the Discourse! I am torn on the idea of needing fuel for lights. On one hand, it adds realism to the game, on the other hand, it adds a lot of extra work for the Hearthlings, and I am cannot think of any games similar to SH that have this type of mechanic.

I have noticed that the sunlight reach into the cave systems you create by mining which in my point of view just feels wrong. I would suggest that sunlight should not reach into mining areas if they arent directly reached by sunlight.

The issue you bring up here has come up before…I am trying to find the post… Here it is:

Shadows (from sunlight) in sliced mode?

Title: Should sunlight shadows be rendered within caves (where there’s no sunlight)? Summary: I’m not sure how I feel about this one, because I don’t know how it would look if they weren’t there. When changing to sliced mode we can see our cute caves. But thinking of the fact that no sunlight would reach there with such angle, well, such shadows wouldn’t be there. This would perhaps require a lot of work depending on how shadow rendering is done. And it’s a minor thing at the moment anyway …
