Let’s hope the 2nd expedition fares better than the 1st…
Well, it’s already lasted longer, despite the meanie wolves! Starting it up again shortly; was too tired by the time I got in last night
Day 9:
The leader didn’t realize just how busy everyone had become; no wonder the miner’s lodge is progressing so seemingly slowly now!
She also noticed how full the storage area has gotten:
And issued for the stock of crates that Kari had been working on to be put into work. Though in her usual odd way, as each crate was assigned a specific thing to store; one for doors and windows, another for furniture, another for lights, etc.
But the focus didn’t stay on storing long. First, this little jerk was spotted by the mining area:
At almost the same time, Hyla came running in with a report of having spotted these low-life greenskins remaking the camp over to a side:
The Varanus was the more immediate danger, so Lueis went after it first, before it could cause any harm to the workers or artisans.

…after all, he feels that such a beast was no threat to him, and it didn’t prove him wrong.
Work on the warehouse started parallel to his vanquishing of the varanus. though being mostly stone slows down the builders despite Lorzen’s experience with stone. (perhaps there isn’t enough wolf fur matting it for him). But the accomplishment of the day was the finishing of the miner’s lodge after all!
Though the leader had some odd reports sitting in front of her over it,

(perhaps there isn’t enough wolf fur matting it for him). But the miner’s lodge coming to completion was the accomplishment of the day, despite the odd reports that the leader was holding when it was done.
But there was feasting to celebrate it! Aside from the workaholic Kari, of course:
And the largest reward to the builders, was a new blueprint - for a proper farmhouse, to set up real agriculture for the community; including a small area for cooking, so Katrina can have her wish of trying her hand at it - once there is someone else to take over her hoe.
Though the choice to use clay means having to light a fire under Lorzen’s bitten butt to get him working with such material.
Rufus Garrow came by yet again, leaving everyone fearful for the stocks. Surprisingly, she stuck with only trading woodwork items to him and a small offering of food. The trader returned in the evening as well, carrying off the stash of hoes and leaving the bolts of cloth.
Day 10:
The morning started with a big bad varanus trying to break into the community, but Lueis caught it before it even reached the gate.
And from all signs, he eliminated the goblins while he was at all. A typical morning for the guard at this point, it seems?
The leader commissioned internal walls at the lodge. She wanted to put doorways in right away, but got frustrated with the design. We suspect she would have changed her mind on the walls if she could have found a way to do so readily.
Fortunately, a trader came to the town, distracting her from it with a request of 8 wooden doors in return for 3 leather bound chests. She eagerly accepted, asking Kari to set right to work on the doors; the craftsman accepted the work, slyly mentioning her mastery of the craft.
Building and crafting isn’t the only thing being commissioned, as the leader has put out an order requested the proper fields be sowed to try to encourage the community to start growing again. There is much gratitude to Lueis for the fact that none have died yet, and the community has been talking about designing a guard house with him in mind as the next building project.
And…my computer crashed about then. Vexingly, my save file isn’t seeming to want to load.
I am going to weep if this expedition is lost, it was one of my best so far…
What kind of leader will send out a THIRD team to this land?
Okay, I would, but still!
A rather heart breaking end if I don’t get it to load…
oh no! though perhaps you could provide that save, could be helpful to the team…
it indeed has been very great so far, i dont know about anyone else, but the way you capture the story definitely has put a smile on my face
Haha, well, I will definitely have to do another if/when I start up a new town!
I’ll dig it up; it might just be that my game has gotten corrupted, as it doesn’t seem to be willing to start a new game, and one of my other games (Gnomoria) is having problems as well; going to take it as a sign that I need to move my Steam games onto my laptop proper (I installed them to a removable drive that I’ve been using)
Save file: Dropbox - 1457121438236.rar
Mods used:
- Terrain Colors
- Storable Plants
- Stonebunny
- Spiros container mod
- Settlemendecor
- Jomaxro Doorway mod
- Endpieces
- Cookmod
- Debugtools
- Brewery mod
Yes! Please do another picture book story!
.> I actually read it to my Son.
Okay, so, reinstalled the game on my laptop proper, and it is at least letting me start games again. I think it might have been that I updated one of the mods that the save file used without paying attention to that discrepency, argh… much derp moment there
Going to start a new town all the same, been wanting to try a desert one again.
Should I post daily logs again for the new one? It’ll be somewhere else… I’m thinking “Isola Sands”, heh…
noooooooo i wanted to hear the rest of the story
There will be more story in the morning!
(Just, y’know, in the desert now, - over here )
Though I could try again at the forest one as well, hmmm…
I love how you linked to my post where I implied there was a hidden stash of vodka somewhere in the desert…
Because no great story ever starts with eating a salad…
I have no idea how that happened xD
