Help! start up and quit itself / Black screen with game sound (Lavasoft Ad-Aware)

I keep getting this so is there a way to fix this, I couldn’t upload stonehearth log file wither since im a new user.

Hey there @bes2dt10, welcome to the discourse! Sorry to hear that you are having trouble getting your game started. First, I am going to page @Albert, @brad, and @not_owen_wilson, who are usually the ones who help with these types of errors. In the mean time, let me ask you a few (basic, sorry…) questions of basic troubleshooting:

  1. Have you checked that your graphics card (looks like an AMD card) is up to date?
  2. Is the game launching in fullscreen or windowed mode? If fullscreen, try windowed mode instead.
  3. Have you rebooted your computer? Its really crazy how much can be fixed by doing so.
  4. Are you running any Antivirus software? If so, try temporarily disabling it and seeing if the game can launch.
  5. Try launching the game “as administrator”…

Let us know if any of these steps help (and which one), or if you are still having issues.

yes I did try all the those troubleshooting, still not working.

sorry I’ve just detected that my AMD still not up to date and I’m downloading it now. I’ll install it and restart afterward then try to to launch the fame again see if it’s still gonna work.

I see you are trying to run on Alpha 11. Could you try changing over to the latest branch and see if Alpha 12 works better for you? How to do this is at the bottom of this article. It’s possible some fix in the last couple months of development could have helped.

One thing that stands out as wierd: The fatal memory exception seems to be claiming you have a total address space of 128 TB. That seems unlikely. You don’t have a 128TB hard drive, raid partition or some other virtual memory entity in your computer do you?

No kidding. AFAIK, the biggest hard drive you can buy (right now) is about 6TB . A computer with 20+ of those raided together would be pretty ridiculous! Which is why it stood out as unlikely :smiley:

@bes2dt10 - Welcome to the forum! The 128 TB is just the memory address space of the processor and shows that you’re running a 64-bit chip.

I don’t have access to our crash dumps at the moment, but do you see a crash.dmp or crash.zip in the folder?

Also, are you running Lavasoft Ad-Aware? That is a common program known to behave badly and crash stonehearth.

The crash dump says it’s crashing in LavasoftTcpService64.dll. So, Lavasoft Ad-Aware is running somewhere on your system. If you don’t remember installing it, it might have been installed as part of a program ‘bundle’ and you forgot to uncheck a checkbox. You’ll need hunt it down and disable or uninstall it for stonehearth to run.

I cant delete LavasoftTcpService64.dll. it said faile is open in windows exploere. how to turn it off?!

still have no luck, i did try Anti-Malware but some hoe it still there.

This is taken from the Lavasoft website, and specifies how to manually uninstall Ad-Aware

… perform a manual uninstall, which is not a very difficult procedure. Do the following:

  1. Click on “my computer” and navigate to your Lavasoft Ad-Aware folder (C:\program files\lavasoft\ad-aware \

  2. Run the file unregaaw.exe

  3. Delete the entire ad-aware folder

  4. Delete your Lavasoft Ad-Aware link in your start menu (if present)

  5. Delete the Ad-Aware icon(s) from your desktop(if present)

  6. Navigate to C:\Documents and Settings[User Name]\Application Data\Lavasoft and delete the entire Lavasoft folder.

  7. Empty your trash bin

  8. Reboot.
