Hearthling Leaders:

A new way of controlling your soldiers and workers, I present you,

The General and The Reeve!
The General:
Can set patrol points
Can set boundaries where footmen will not cross, even if there is an enemy
Can set alternate positions during town alert
Will lead militia, and can be set to dismiss militia if they are dying
To get a general, you need atleast:
3 footmen
1 of them must be level 4 (he will be the general)
A generals bugle (i dont know crafting, ideas?)
The Reeve:
Can set priorities for jobs, (eg: you can set harvest wood, than build house)
Can set how many workers complete a job
Can set a repeatable order for farms (eg: corn, corn, fallow, repeat)
Can set a regime (2hrs sleep, 1.5hrs hrs eat, 6hrs work, 1.5 hrs eat, 6hrs work , 4hrs sleep)

Forgot reeves requirement,
10 hearthlings, 2 farmers, and atleast 4 workers.
The Reeve must have 3 intelli points.

General should be able to set the weapons of certain Footmen e.g When archer comes out the people with less HP can take bows, Higherlevels get better gear.

I actually made a suggestion along these lines some time ago, except it was for a military leader, per se, but more of a general community leader style position. I may try my hand at modding since I see the skeleton of what I want being introduced with the Cleric class.
