Game wont work and has game error

Summary: my game starts to load the nothing and that’s it i try to re open the game and steam says its already running when nothing is there i have got it to work a few times but only after uninstalling and reinstalling the game like 50 time in a row then it pops up with a message that says that my northern alliance mod is locked by stonehearth and cant update then i go yo my download file like so (steam>steamapps>downloading>253250>x64>stonhearth.exe) then it will load but only when the error message come ups. i have tried clearing my cache data (several times) i have tried verify integrity of game files and it says that nothing is wrong.
all my drivers are up to date i have a gtx 1080 ti grafex card 32gb of ram and windows 10 so i have no idea of what is wrong i have tried deleting the northern alliance script but it dose not let me (understandable) but i have run out of patience and i love playing this i have been able to play this game before the 1.0 update came out and still nothing has worked.
dose any one have any clues as what to do?

plus my all my game data is wiped every time i load the game so i have no point in playing it the moment well till this is fixed

The first time you run it, it might take some time to appear, because your antivirus/firewall is scanning it (you can try to add an exception for the game in your security software) and the game is already big so it takes a while. If Steam says it’s running then it’s really running; once the game window appears, the next time you reopen the game it shouldn’t take so long to appear.

The error that a base mod is locked might be that you had some game folder open while trying to uninstall it, or some process from the game might still be running in the background when this happened (you can check in your Task Manager if Stonehearth is actually running).

This sounds like a Steam issue, or a full reinstall.
To perform clean reinstalls without losing old savefiles etc, these are the steps:

  1. Launch Steam.
  2. Right-click Stonehearth and click Properties
  3. Click on the Local Files tab
  4. Click Browse Local Files...
  5. If you have saved games or templates to save, complete the following. Otherwise, skip to step 6 below.
    • For saved games, copy saved_games to another location, like your Desktop.
    • For templates or reembarkation crews, copy saved_objects to another location, like your Desktop.
  6. Go up one directory level to the common folder.
  7. Delete the Stonehearth folder.
  8. Close Windows Explorer and return to Steam.
  9. Right-click Stonehearth and click Uninstall...
  10. Once removed, right-click Stonehearth again and click Install Game...
  11. If you backed up saves or templates in step 5 above, do the following. Otherwise, skip to step 12.
    1. Right-click Stonehearth and click Properties
    2. Click on the Local Files tab
    3. Click Browse Local Files...
    4. Copy the backed up folders into Stonehearth folder.
  12. Close Windows Explorer.
  13. Launch Stonehearth

If none of this worked, could you upload your stonehearth.log? It’s rewritten every time you start the game. It’s inside C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stonehearth.

thank you so much it is working now?

Glad to hear it’s fixed!

Let us know if it happens again.

im sorry to report it has happened again i’ve tried it all but now it wont let me do step 7 so im wondering if there is anything wrong here. (my stonehearth.log)

and if there is anything i can do to fix it

By your log there’s something wrong with the graphics drivers or the display.

If it doesn’t let you perform step 7 it’s likely there’s still some Stonehearth process running in the background, you should see it when you open your Task Manager (or perhaps you have the log or some other file/folder open elsewhere). Since many days have passed, it should have let you reinstall it after restarting your computer anyway.
