Farmer troubles

Greetings everyone,

in my most recent game, I’m having trouble with my farmers. They tend to run around and transport items instead of gathering the yield of their farms. There is a lot of plants going to waste while my farmers sit at the fire or transport items around.

My tries:
Adding one extra farmer
Saving and loading
Swearing

Yes this is very annoying. Disable your farmers from doing any hauling (citizens window). Once their backpack is full they will drop everything then other workers with hauling will move it to the designated spot.

I solved the same issue by lowering the amount of farms I have and you also have a lot of farms for 3 farmers. I would disable few of those.Farmers just won’t be able to keep up with them all.

In earlier games, the amount of farmers was really fine with that many farms, since corn fields require much less attention than others. Problem is as described above: Farmers are there, but they transport items or stand around while the plants start to die off.

Confirmed … but only in my current game … why why why why :frowning:

I’m after this bug for long but I can’t seem to find the steps to reproduce it, because it doesn’t always happen.

On the savefile from @DeMaggo, I can see the wasted crops, but the farmers are doing their work. If I issue tasks they might go to place items, but they return to work after that. That first issue is probably related to priorities.

But there’s the case where they will go completely idle, and you have to uncheck / check the Job checkbox to wake them up.

For comparison, how many farms (and which size) and how many farmers did you have when they started to idle / not do their jobs?

From my experience, one farmer was always able to maintain a little more than 2 fullsized vegetables+ 2 corn fields. If they’re stacked efficiently, you could add one more field for full worktime.
