I hope not because of me. As I have wrote, I kind of liked the sword… but think that the shield might be improved. Sorry for any confusion.
I think the problem with the shield is that the color appears too flat.Try shading it like you did the sword, might turn out a bit better.

Maybe you can add some texture or shading. The Back of the shield looks a bit nicer if you ask me. The depth of the shield should be like 3 voxels, right? How about removing one voxel from the front on the border of the symbol and / or frame of the shield, providing some depth. Just play around a bit and see what you like most.
I tried going for a realistic feel. I found a picture of a shield on the Internet, and I tried to re-create it in Quibicle.
