I’m trying to dig some ore and want to dig UP from the evel i’m on. But i cant select blocks on the ceiling, so my only option is to dig DOWN from top of the mountain, which isnt something i want to do. So the question is, can i dig upstairs?

You can only dig up if you go “stairs-like”. It is not possible to go vertical upwards as far as I have seen. You come into the problem that they can’t reach the blocks anymore.
