I’ve mined into the side of a mountain but can’t seem to mine upwards. I’ve tried using a ladder and steps using slabs but the hearthlings simply will not mine upwards.
Am I missing something?

I mean, im not really sure how someone would do so? From an accessibility standpoint its really hard to mine upwards. I dont think the ability to do this is in the game atm, at the very least.
If it’s not in the game yet, that’s fine, I just feared I was missing something obvious.
Ladder up and mine down. I know it’s stupid, but right now it’s all one can do.
I was under the impression that you can ladder down now?
However, I don’t think it would make sense to be able to mine upwards?
I don’t know if it will ever be a part of the game, but one could generalize the scaffolding code used in constructing buildings and apply it to mining. The corner cases for that are extreme enough that I would first seriously consider writing a solver for the various problems that show up when mining. (what to do when scaffolding is blocking the path? should holes up be 4x4 or 1x1, 2x2 etc etc. How do players look up? etc etc)
You can ladder down, but that doesn’t help one in mining up.
