Because we most certainly don’t get that option in vanilla stonehearth. It defeats the whole idea of ‘sacrifice a worker to get a carpenter’. Sacrifice a trapper to get a shepherd. If you can just demote a shepherd to get a trapper back or a carpenter to get a worker.

Not sure on that one, because I can remember another stream where it was mentioned that they do not want you to suffer because you did one wrong decision, e.g. to promote to the wrong profession and being stucked with it.

im assuming you mean, as of right now? but like i said, i wasnt aware we would have this option either… but @Tom clearly goes into the discussion towards the tail end this stream (around the 01:06:00 mark)…

Nope, look here.

Demote does just remove equipment when necessary. It demote from worker when promoting to trapper. To give it the new trapper AI and remove the worker AI. As far as I know you will not have a button in the vanilla stonehearth UI that says ‘demote trapper to worker’.

Watch the livestream around minute 10 where Tom explains the techtree.
“When you want another trapper you have to burn one of your workers”
“Workers are a limited resource”

They said that in context with promotion? You wont suffer because you can get new workers. Promoting is not really suffering, because the promoted one is generally better. And the core professions carpenter / mason / blacksmith promote straight fom worker.

I remember saying them they dont want you to change professions all the time. Like now I need more workers and no carpenter for next minute → demote carpenter. That is an optimal way, but very micro-intensive.

as do I, hence my confusion from the last stream… I’ll have to listen again, but promotion and demotion were clearly discussed, right?

(sorry, stuck on my phone at the moment)

From the screenshot you can see the demote function from the trapper. It does unequip worker outfit.
