That’s all cool and stuff but where are my roads? I need roads… This is my only way to feed myself…
I’ll be honest I think @SteveAdamo and I need to officially mandate that only one map game can be going at any time, and that includes topics for pre-discussion. Limiting it to two topics, one for the game, and one for discussion.
At the moment we have like 2 or 3 games that comprise of 5 or 6 separate threads and that just dilutes the content that is seen at the top, potentially pushing bug reports or other posts directly related to the game out of sight.
We do? thought we only had one map game going on atm.
Yesterday prior to the Alpha 6 announcement I think the ‘newest’ topics were:
Map Game Deluxe: Discussion Thread
The Map Game Deluxe: Magic Edition
Map Game Mini: Magic Edition
Map Game Sci-Fi Pre-Game Discussion
And I could have sworn there was another one somewhere, but never mind.
Yeah, we know this is awkward, and we’re still looking for a way for you to gracefully stamp out 10x houses and then stop. For the moment, after stamping out the # of houses you want, try right clicking. This should exit house-stamping mode.
Oh my, I’m always late for the party
Ahem… I’ll join:
SQUEEEEEEEE!!!
Now, back to work… :running:
You can have multiple members in a private chat cant you? An organization thread is all that’s needed, to see who wants to play, then take it to private is my suggestion -.-
That’s sort of what @Dwalus is doing with the map game mini (though turns are posted in the public thread). I hadn’t planned on anyone setting up a sci-fi game discussion thread yet for this reason, but others had different ideas .
You can use floors as roads for the time being…
while not wanting to sidetrack too much, we have a request to the Discourse folks that may help address the issue… fingers crossed
Other people might disagree, but in my limited playtime I’ve found that I’m not very interested in stamping out lots of stuff right in a row. For buildings, I like placing it and then making whatever customizations I want to it right away.
On the other hand, there is some stuff I would like to be able to stamp. Walls, for example. If I come up with a cool castle wall design, I’ll probably just create a small section, save it, and then stamp it out 30x to create a walled off area. In these situations, maybe holding a modifier key like ctrl would work. That’s a fairly standard way to do multi-selects in other interfaces.
Just some perspective from someone on the outside.
I don’t know if it’s particularly necessary to moderate it if people are enjoying it. The people who need to read bug reports are going to read them by filtering by category, people who are making suggestions can make them. Two-to-five threads isn’t that big a deal compared to all the other non-bug-report related stuff that gets fed into the main page, and if it gets people to stick around in the community then all the better.
Is it possible to modify how often a category shows up on the front page? If these threads were all in the “Forum Games” category, would it be possible to only allow one thread from that category to show up on the front page? I’m not familiar with the limitations of Discourse, but surely there’s some way to prevent all these threads from bumping without banning different varieties of the game.

So do something like in real life and bring over wood beams and prefab wall panels from mason or carpenter, or have a builder skill tree that lets them whack a wall together on the ground faster and raise it like real walls -drywall but hey it’s a game… Boath would give the feel of progression and let you build faster when things get bogged down with a larger city or just a migration wave. The latter would probably be simpler form development standpoint render it sideways and rotate it to the right spot.
You guys do some amazing stuff though so you’ve probably already thought about those sorts of things. However you do or don’t it’ll be nifty to see I’m sure.
This is one of the best solution i have seen up until now
Else we could probably take the number down to 2 by putting the discussion threads in pm. (Especially the discussion threads are getting updated very often which keeps throwing it up to the top once again.)
when is mining gong to come out sorry for my newbiness
quoting @sdee from the latest blog post:
Alpha 6 is focused on building improvements. I would expect mining in its own release, after it’s more fully baked and polished.
