I was reading the ol’ kickstarter stretch goals (I do this a surprisingly excessive amount…) at the same time, thinking about how magic will be dangerous in stonehearth, and then I saw.
Harness the earth’s most destructive material to incinerate invaders and raise towering walls of black glass.
And I realized, "Wait, when those invaders come, won’t he have to bring magma straight out of the earth and to them?"
Then I thought, "Hey, that could be the risky part of the magma smith"
So here would be his advantages/disadvantages
Pros:
- “Black glass” is strong-ish and easy for him to produce
- He can MELT YOUR ENEMIES FACES OFF WITH FREAKING MAGMA
- He can produce a variety of objects out of black glass, thus making him both a crafter and a warrior.
- Able to create new land masses, although this is difficult.
Cons:
- Magma he rises out of the ground create long and extensive holes which could potentially collapse and/or spurt lava, so, even if your make him a Magma lair deep underground or in a volcano, he’s still gonna make holes in combat.
- Magma can burn homes and structures if your not careful! Even entire forest! (Of course, this is less of a problem for dwarves.)
- He can easily create an upset in seismic activity with some of his stronger spells.
- The elementals can be somewhat upset by some of the Magma smith’s antics.(Using too much Magma, creating new landmasses upsetting the ocean, etc.)
Welp, that’s all I got folks, and I’ll see ya later!
(Also, here’s a tidbit on summoners cause’ why not? They’re dangerous too, aren’t they? After all, I too, have to do occasional story-writing )
Report of day 12 of the battle of the forest of crimat
"She was a young she-orc, no older than 9. However, when the elder had proclaimed she had such great power, we had no choice to make her a summoner, especially since we lacked those ever since the baron genocide. That was merely 2 months ago. She was… and still is… inexperienced. We were having some serious trouble with those rebellious humans that settled on the riverside. We had no choice but to get rid of them, since they put a dam over the river-source and refused to move. We advanced on them. At this point, after 12 days, we were all tired. We were, to an extent losing. For 12 days, she was sitting on the side lines. She was sick of that by now, and attempted to summon something to help us win. That, was a mistake. She summoned a great beast, something that resembled a bear but larger, and with a tougher hide. That, was a mistake. The beast killed the entire opposing army, but then proceeded to slaughter ours. The only ones that survived were one human soldier and 3 orcs, including the passed-out summoner. Chieftain Dernal won’t be happy…"
