Can't refurnish homes

Summary:
when I build a house with for example has mean beds in it and I want to put something new there like a comfy bed I can’t do so. Once I un-deploy them they are still there as ghosts in the blue print and they wont let me delete them or place new things over them.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. place anything in a house
  2. un-deploy them
  3. try to place new item in its place

Expected Results:
items to not effect templets and also proper removal of items from building when un-deployed

Actual Results:
Ghosts in the blueprints

Is currently known, the builder doesn’t support it yet, but they are going to make it so you can

any work arounds using the console?

Nope, blow up building, make a new one is currently the only option

I have noticed as well some items are a bit dodgy with placement in the builder (e.g. tables) so it seems like the best workaround is to build your buildings completely unfurnished. I’ve been planning out everything as normal then just deleting all the furniture right before I hit build.

Wall placable items sometimes hate particular wall voxels and won’t stick to them. I’ve also noticed that furniture would seem to not be placable, especially along a wall, but can be “rotated into place”.

The problem it seems is that the building never actually ‘completes’, even if your hearthlings celebrate its completion. The building is always in ‘build mode’ whenever you select the building or enter the New Builder UI.

What I would expect to happen is that once the building completes, it is no longer a construction entity and the newly placed voxels become part of the world, like dirt or rock. I suppose the trick will be editing existing buildings…

or build it without furniture then add it later

(btw, i added a confy bed over the ghost of the mean bed that was removed before and it was placed where i wanted…)

Summary:
With an existing building, I cannot switch out any furniture like a mean bed for something else like a comfy bed. Also cannot placed the same item back in. This is using the new builder tool.
Steps to reproduce:

  1. Create a building with a mean bed designed into the template.
  2. Undeploy the mean bed.
  3. Deploy the same bed or a different one in the same spot…

Expected Results:
Deployment of the new item.
Actual Results:
The mouse cursor shows an X or taken to the finished template showing the original furniture and unable to make any changes to allow switching anything.
Notes:
I have tried to remove all my current Mods that I’m using an the problem still happens.
Also the problem doesn’t seem to happen if you don’t have the furniture designed into the template and placed them in after you built the building.

It’s a current limitation of the builder, they are working on it!

I can’t replace the mean beds I put in a house I made in the latest Mutliplayer build with the new builder.

I build a house with a few bedrooms before my Carpenter can make comfy beds, putting a mean bed into each room. Later on, I have a few spare comfy beds sitting around, so I remove the old beds from the rooms. I get the overlay for the building design, but someone still comes around and takes the bed away. However, when I try to place the new bed, I can’t put it in the right spot, because the building design overlay comes up, and assumes I have the old bed there. I can’t remove the mean old bed from the design, so the new bed doesn’t fit.

We’ll push a fix for this soon, which will allow you to place fixtures where you removed other fixtures after the building was built.

This won’t remove the original fixtures from the blueprint though (will look ugly when you open the building editor), but you’ll be able to place new fixtures there using the placement menu.

@Relyss so from a common sense type of view: making a building with little to no beds/chairs etc might be cleaner? (hell, making a seperate blueprint with the insides and no blocks might even work then

Yes, well, that works right now :slightly_smiling_face:
But at least with this you’ll be able to change your mean beds with comfy beds and the like.

well… bugger why didnt i think of that earlier XD
good that we can replace beds more easilly though  ~!

And… the patch is released! (Alpha 24.9.2 now on Steam Unstable – Stonehearth)
Let us know how it feels. This hotfix also fixes the bug when rotating templates.

@relyss am I correct in thinking the brave little tester and determination beta’s aren’t being, updated anymore but the “latest” build is? If so, you might want to shut those down so people don’t stay on those.

Yeah, we should probably close those

Hope I’m not being a bother with comments like these :’)
