Auto replace potions

Pretty much self descriptive, I don’t really enjoy having to place potions just to use them, I’d rather make a nice little stand in my Herbalist shop that displays them and after using them they should auto queue to be placed again.

Truth be told I don’t understand the way potions work in the first place, they are a map-wide buff that everyone just feels without even having to imbibe the item? Its weird. This would be a better mechanic used as an enchanted bell or dumping the potion into the well or cooking pot that gives the town this effect. Possibly even certain hearthlings with the right stats or class will just grab them and use them automatically.

Just thoughts. Though at least let them queue themselves to be replaced.

I use a stockpile zone that is filtered to only contain potions. You can use them with placing them. The potion-specific stockpile means that you can always find them there. One downside is that every other stockpile/container filter must not include potions.

They used to be replaced, you would place them and it would ghost when used and be replaced by a worker. That’s not happening anymore? I say bring it back!

Was it part of a building? If so, I wonder if that’s still a way to get this to work…

Personally I still think the system needs an overhaul, make potions and hearthlings equip them themselves. And auto use them up when the time is right.

This is entirely true and a good idea, It just isn’t very visually pleasing and I can’t pick and choose which potions. I am personally pretty particular where things get placed and trying to keep as few entities sitting in the world all willy-nilly as possible for performance reasons. Granted a few potions don’t affect it that much but squeezing as much as possible wherever possible.

These potions could be visually shown on their belts etc. I already got sword-sheaths to work like that, so why not potions?

Did it? Maybe I missed a time where it did.

I actually would love this. I craft an abundance of potions in the first place, it’d be great if they had more uses.
The ones that already exist like the Stamina Tonic is something the Knight would carry around.
The Strength Tonic is one the Archers and Footman grab (On that note the Courage Tonic is one the Footman class could use from time to time as well. Then they use them when they are about to go into combat.
Workers, Trappers, and Shepherds could take the Energy Tonic.
How about a Compassion Tonic for the Clerics when they are about to heal someone.
A Curiosity Tonic for someone who is not a master of their class and is about to do work.

All of these the hearthlings’ll use under certain circumstances and they have different durations. Maybe some addiction issues? Thats just mean.

Seeing them on the models would be amazing. In fact that should be a standard for all equipment even if it isn’t currently in use, but that is a suggestion for another post.

I want to suggest this kind of an improvement.

Check out the mod I just published:

There’ll be more to it soon, but it should handle the basics.

Most excellent, I’m gonna check that out right now!
