Hello my name is NCM and i love stonehearth allot i recently oppend a new subject that can intrest us all.
What if stonehearth had a better game engine if this is posible the game will run better faster and the chances of crashes are lower. I hope that its possible because this game can bring soooo much to the table. The possiblileties are endless if the game can be run on a different engine
Well, the simple answer is yes, you’re right. And it would!
The not so simple answer is… Well, this has been considered many times before, and the issue is that… well, engines are not like clothes, that you can remove one and put on another and it will be fine. Stonehearth has its own engine which means that the game and the engine are deeply entangled as a single thing. In shorter terms, to have Stonehearth in another engine basically requires you to rewrite/remake the entire game, from scratch, on another engine. So unfortunately it’s not something simple that we just need to swap some files and it would work…
And that’s only approaching the technical level - there are also legal matters at hand. We don’t have access to the source code of the game, which means that remaking it from scratch is even more difficult - and we don’t have the rights over the game, so even if we did all that, Riot Games could approach us with a “Cease & Desist” order and that would be it
So we have what we have, and our goal is to try to do the best out of that
We don’t know what the future reserves, or if someday someone will try to make a game inspired by Stonehearth or anything like that… who knows?
We can dream tho!
I love the optimism!
Just wanted to say thank you to the ACE Team for doing this,it’s an awesome thing adding to the game and hard work, but it’s so awesome you guys do this.
Hey there, @Napssyz!
Thin Leather is not part of ACE, it’s part of Trapper+
You can acquire it by placing Rawhide (crafted by the Trapper) inside Tanning Tubs and then waiting.
Please note that Trapper+ is still not updated for the new ACE version, so weird stuff might happen
sorry,but thanks very much
hello,i have a question. How can you get medicinal plants(example:hyacinth) with agriculture ??
The farm plots of flowers are for decoration only. If you want to grow flowers you can use for crafting, you need to use the Herbalist’s planter boxes.
I have a suggestion, not sure if it’s easy to implement. Can we get a clean up feature. So we can tell the hearthlings to go to a specific area and pick up all the items there? I have so much stuff scattered around. And I need them to pick up a few specific items. And not sure how far down the list they are to being picked up.
One thing you can do is to disable all other jobs temporarily (you can do so by ticking the “Pause” buttons on the Citizen Screen and then leave only Hauling allowed for some time…)
The game has a system where your hearthlings will prefer to haul things you don’t have yet first - so while it is true that there is no command to choose a specific area to be cleared/cleaned, you’ll definitely get the stuff you might need quickly!
As for having a lot of clutter around, I guess the only/best solution for that would be to try to keep it tidy from the start, not expand/harvest/cut a lot without having where to store it first, etc…
Leaving 2 lings to only do Hauling and rest is really neat to keep town clean and also it makes sure things places faster when you command them to build a ladder or want to move an item
That’s a good idea! I hadn’t thought about specializing just one or two hearthlings to just haul.
That’s true. But with the amount of jobs and housing and such needed I find things get out of control really fast.
That possibly means you’re expanding faster than your town can keep up with, then. The thing about hearthlings is that they’re workaholics, they don’t realise when they have too much on their plate already and they’ll just keep accepting new tasks even if what they* really need to do is stop and organise the town a bit.
It’s actually really really easy to attract new migrants without having “provided for” them yet (i.e. house, food stored properly, workshop for their job, etc.), but sometimes this leads to a situation where you have lots of workers and it feels like you should be doing All The progression at once… which can lead to the workers actually being spread too thin to complete anything. So, one thing I found to be a useful trick is to try and get the newest hearthling completely “set up” in town before accepting a new immigrant – this encourages me to finish the new construction and make sure that my food production is well balanced and do all those kind of things before I add another hearthling (which is going to mean a new house, new workshop if it’s a new profession, having to adjust food production, etc.), and gives me time to take a look around town and check what’s working or needs work.
*well, the hearthlings are pretty bad at organising anything, so that’s where the player comes in to help them out… we’re much better at spotting the opportunities to make life easier than the hearthlings are hahah!
I’ve found that once you get the workshop set up, and have things like storage crates and input bins all sorted out, it becomes very easy to keep the workshops tidy. From there, it’s pretty simple to transfer all the relevant materials into storage, and you can easily tell if your production is out-pacing your demand for any kinds of materials or finished items. When you also have cricket golems and/or some dedicated hauler hearthlings, things should run very smoothly and tidily
Maybe I’m missing something really simple. How do I make mayonnaise??? I’ve made the unfermented mead. Made the item to make it into vinegar. What am I missing??
You must turn the unfermented mead into mead and then the mead into the unfermented mead vinegar (which goes back to the carboy to become vinegar)
Retracting my prior comment about the ducks, they were following the shepherd around for a wee bit, however after enough fencing was placed they seemed to stay in the zoned area. Still going to comment on that latest patch, she’s a beauty. So far no issues, awesome job!
Ok that makes sense. Will do that. I have a feeling my hearthlings will drink the mead before I can make it to vinegar lol. Everyone will be stumbling around before I can make 1 vinegar lol. Man I love this update. Working on the legendary equipment. Still can’t find woodland silk. Maybe the trapper needs the special last type of trapping ground?? Dwarf quest line?? Maybe the rabbits teach me?? Oh so much to learn. Thanks for the great update I’ve been having a hard time pulling away from it.
