[Tutorial] How to add a custom, craftable item

The tutorial above is quite outdated, will it work with the latest alpha?

Also, he is just editing the actual stonehearth.smod, adding new folders, can you add new directories with mixintos?

I’m not sure it will. There have been a few major changes to the json file format the past few alphas.

It is possible to create your own smod and use it to add your own aliases and mixinto the recipe files for the crafters.

It seems like moding has picked up some more interest in the community. It may be time for some updated tutorials (though the game format is still pretty much in flux)

If I had the time I’d create a tutorial, however my freetime is kind of lacking as college is starting back up, and I do not have access to the software needed to do video tutorials.

Maybe @voxel_pirate would be up to creating an updated tutorial?

If you dig into @Pandemic’s and my mod on his topic you can download it and use it as an example for how to format your own mod. Though a tutorial may still be needed, it can get kinda confusing. PM me if you need any help and I’ll see what I can do.

Thanks, will do. I think I’ll be able to figure out the jist of it, I don’t need the specifics, just where to put what. I’ll pm you if I need help, again, thanks a lot!

Heck, if I can figure it out, I’ll make a tutorial, I have Fraps and a mic.

Unfortunately all tutorials are outdated rather fast these days. With the changes in Alpha 4 some things did change, so it is not working anymore… still might provide an idea where to start looking for.

At the moment I am very much involved in my ob and am traveling a lot… so it will take more time for me to come back and make new tutorials :disappointed_relieved:.

Starting to mod and I’m wondering how to get the Png. file. Do you screen shot it and then edit it? or is there a way to actually get it. Thanks!

If you mean the crafting icon in the carpenter’s UI (or similar), it’s a screenshot taken in Qubicle Constructor using the rendering camera. Some of the videos @Tom does on Twitch show him doing it.

All .png files are saved in the Stonehearth-folder. You need to change stonehearth.smod to stonehearth.zip and unzip it. After that you have access to the folder structure and all .png-files.

Sorry to bump an old thread.
But, is it possible to create the models using another voxel program that has abilities to export QB files? or is qubicle the only viable program.

I’m sure it’s Qubicle only as .qb is a Qubicle binary file extension

Why would you want to? Qubicle is awesome!

Actually there are some others out there.

Here you go

I haven’t personally verified compatibility with Stonehearth or whether or not the are any good, but they do exist.

You learn something new every day!

That zoxel program looks like it has a ton of potential.

Okay, so I managed to get some money into my account and bought it. At least the answers are there for others.
Also, anyone wanting to try Qubicle Constructor without paying is going to be out of luck as the basic version download link was removed.
