Hey idk if this is intended behavior or not but it seems silly

You can’t blame the very tired hearthlings from working all day ~
In that state, anything and anywhere is fine to sleep on.

P.S. I think it is intended behavior (It is the same as sleeping on the ground).

indeed they just count scaffolding as ground, and if there are no beds AT ALL they can take, they work till they drop assleep exhausted. working as intended. to get around it: make sure to have some beds set up first, you can always undeploy them later.
