Slave to Armok: God of Blood: Dwarf Fortress

Well, I’ve just updated and I’ve found that the new update is so much more fun. I’m making A citadel type fortress with a mountain, lava, and a river. I will soon have basalt towers climbing high into the sky. Touching the very sky. Almost as high as holy tower of candy. Only not infinite.

ON TOPIC PEOPLE!

Anyways… I mocked up a simple new little creature. Can’t figure out how to get to appear on the embark screen though.

That’s a link to the creature file. If you want the creature in your world (its a docile spider [unless you attack it, though its small and weak] that lays eggs and can be domesticated).

So much code. no time to read. If it is spider, what is it? Drow or elves? If elves it die in lavacano that me build base at.

Its a spider.

Literally a spider. A big spider, just a little smaller than a full grown boar. It lays eggs, and is non-venomous.

Anyways, figured out why it wouldn’t work. Had to be a [PET] not a [PET_EXOTIC].

Also its not really code, more like a huge amount of tags and descriptive elements to let the game know what it is.

extra points (and fear induced tremors) for this:

[NOEMOTION][EXTRAVISION]

love the mock-up though…

NOEMOTION means they don’t go into a rage-induced tantrum and kill for no reason. If I had NOFEAR on him, then you should be worried…

EXTRAVISION… yeah thats just creepy. He can see you even if he has zero eyes, or is blind.

ahh, thanks for the clarification… i had assumed it meant “kill with reckless abandon, and feel no emotion whatsoever!”…

Any suggestions for more domestic cave creatures? This one works as intended, so far.

How about a race of dragon people? If it’s manageable, I mean.

I meant domestic

Also, pretty sure they’d destroy the entire map with dragonfire.

I think I’ll try to make a golem.

Sentient Fungi/Mushroom. Make them the cave equivalent of cats! Mushroom cats! Also for extra !FUN! make them breed asexually if possible.

The spiders already eat vermin :frowning: I guess they take up a lot of domestic slots.

Sadly not possible.

The golem is giving me pains. I have the creature itself working properly, however completely untrained and unarmed dwarves can punch its limbs off relatively easily.

I suggest making cthulu as a monster if you are to close to an ocean, just a cool Idea

There are worse things than Cthulu in Dwarf Fortress, my friend.

Much worse.

So the worst would be like a flying adamantine blob that has an instant necrosis breath attack? I’m not even sure if that combination is possible for a forgotten beast. Although I’d argue Cthulhu could be worse, he’d likely just cause dwarves to go unpredictably insane which would be much nastier if you couldn’t find him.

That mix is definitely possible. Maybe not necrosis breath, though.

And depending what time period you set him in (the mythos says his minions rose up against him at some point) he would have you fighting his abominable snowmen and other monstrosities, Cthulu’s minions also study your people this means that his minions would become better at killing your dwarves over time. The more dead dwarf bodies the more they can study. Cthulu was only ever defeated by his own minions and even then his minions were forced into a cave at the end of the war and Cthulu was not killed but forced into the ocean, This is because of the amount of radiation (this is what killed the dinosaurs) from the weaopns they used and then humans came along meanwhile Cthulu’s minions and Cthulu himself thought that the world above was uninhabitable. So basically Cthulu would destroy even most powerful fortress by spawning monstosities and making your dwarves go insane. NOT EVEN MY ARMY OF PUPPIES COULD STOP HIM!!!

If you really think about it, you dont really need cthulu to make your dwarves go insane… a dead cat or a lost sock will be sufficient in triggering a homicidel killing spree
