The problem is, this bug does not happen all the times (has anyone else experienced it on r652?)
I’ve tried to reproduce it a number of times, but it doesn’t happen. However, I remember seeing it not so long ago, even after they fixed it, but saving and reloading fixed it, as you mention.
Summary:
I removed a set of placed blocks while the game was paused and, after unpausing the game, the “cloud” animation for the removal of a building played infinitely.
Steps to reproduce:
Place blocks as freehand staircase, wait for it to “complete”
Pause game
Click completed building and remove (while paused)
Unpause game
Expected Results:
Building/stairs should be removed with one loop of the “cloud” animation
Actual Results:
Building/stairs were replaced by default stone blocks and the “cloud” animation keeps playing over and over

I merged your topic here, as this has been reported previously. As you’ll see above, we haven’t been able to reproduce this consistently, so it you are able to do so or have more details that would be very much appreciated.
I noticed that it didn’t do it when I tried to replicate it myself if I only clicked “remove” on a completed building once while paused. Try this:
Steps to reproduce:
Place blocks as freehand staircase, wait for it to “complete”
Pause game
Click completed building and remove (while paused) 3b) Repeat step 3 a few times on the same item you’ve told the game to remove once already (I did this by accident because I didn’t realize the game was paused)
Yeah, repeating step 3 seems to produce the endless effect, I was able to reproduce it now.
Thank you very much for your steps @AnneMunition , I’m sure @yshan will find them useful.
