With A12 and probably quite soon A13, the lakeside village as we knew it is doomed. I am working hard on the french translation (more than 3000 strings, not bad for an early alpha) so I think I won’t return on previous versions. Now, nothing is lost, the rules to build this village/city are there and some additional models were done and stored.
I think this kind of lakeside habitat is cool so of course there will be a new city someday. I think it will be when the water system will be fully implemented because for sure that will add plenty of nice details. 
And a last note, @Pandemic’s tribute is kind of really cool to write down a final point on this thread.
