With the different kingdoms and races in the game it seems like you should be able to take your hearthlings to other maps and visit other towns and interact with them. I would imagine that there will be something similar to this when alternate planes are added. Be good to hear if the devs have ever mentioned something to do with something like this.
The issue I see with with (though I think this would be awesome) is that you don’t really have direct control over your hearthlings unless it’s a soldier. What would you do with other towns?
I think it would be cool to trade with and see other towns grow, but that probably would be a big drain on performance.
