!i can load in to the game for a few minutes then the game stops responding, I have just bought the game and made sure my drivers where up to date. There is yet to be an error message or a crash to desktop but the game just freezes while the music and sounds continue to play. It is a fun game for the little time i have been able to play, but this problem makes it hard to keep playing the game.
Hey there @shadowSBx411, welcome to the Discourse !
Sorry to hear that you’re having issues with Stonehearth. Just to check, when the game is “freezing” does it eventually resume, or are you forced to close it?
To help us debug what’s going on here, can you answer the following questions too?
-
Upload your
stonehearth.log
please. The file is located in the game install directory. Default Steam location isC:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stonehearth
-
If it exists, please also uplaod your
crash.dmp
(from the game install directory). Since your game isn’t “crashing” per se, it might not exist. -
What version of Stonehearth are you playing? Have you installed any mods?
-
What are your system specs? Please list Windows version (7, 8, 8.1, 10), video card (e.g. GTX 780), and monitor type (laptop panel or external monitor).
-
Have you attempted basic troubleshooting steps here: Crashing on start? Read this! UPDATED October 18, 2016? They cover a lot of common issues.
The game is freezes and I have to force close it, and yes I have attempted the basic troubleshooting steps.
Playing on the most recent version Alpha 19, no mods installed.
Windows 8 with external monitor, Graphics card is AMD Radeon HD 7560D

Welcome to the forum, @shadowSBx411
Could you try unchecking the checkbox for sending feedback on the System tab of the game settings and see if it helps?
It some what helps, but the game still ends up not responding. Unchecking allows me to play but only for a few more minutes before the eventual freezing
Hangs like that are usually caused by third party applications interferring with the game.
(Just to confirm), which troubleshooting steps did you attempt?
Do you have any crash.dmp file inside your Stonehearth folder?
Two observations:
-
Your log shows drivers that are 3 years old. It’s possible AMD isn’t updating the 7560D anymore.
-
The 7560D is a pretty slow graphics chip. Try turning down the graphics settings.
I know that the older AMD drivers are buggy. If the freeze is due to the drivers and they are no longer supported, I’m not sure what else to do.
