Game destroyed by roof tool

You guys seriously need to have a Delete button for the roof tool. Similar to the eraser for the slab/floor work.

This is the second time I lose hours of design work on a building because of the stupid roof tool not having the ability to delete parts of it, or forgetting to cover any access ways.

Part of the problem is expecting players to remember to cover every single access hole on their floors before using the roof tool. This is just an unrealistic expectation. I know you’ll be adding a stairway object in the future. For the time being, I suggest a roof eraser to fix these mistakes.

3rd story access covered by Roof

Second time this happens. It’s nearly impossible to predict when the roof will cover a floor or not. You should have a tick mark as to whether or not you want the roof to cover a hole in a floor or not. Otherwise the roof tool should have an eraser just like the Slab and Floor tool to allow us to delete excess roofing in spots we don’t want.

Took me at least 2-3 hours to put this together. Unfortunately I don’t have a save before I put the first story roofs in.

if you select the roof you want to get rid of, and then open the console, and use the destroy command does that get rid of it?

P.S. awesome house!

Nope, unfortunately it starts spitting out errors.

I tried. hehe

And thank you!

though it is a “minor” annoyance to have to do, i believe a workaround is to make the hole after adding the roofs to the template. but i could be wrong, as i havent played to much in the last while.

That is correct.

Each layer you want to plug all staircase holes before laying the roof down.

Problem is, besides the dollhouse view not hiding floors, on complicated construction projects, you can easily forget to plug a staircase.

I don’t see what it’s too difficult to just add the eraser tool to the roof rollout.

that indeed would be quite a handy dandy tool, paging @sdee for her thoughts on this.
